6 threads about DeSantis on the first page but his campaign “is finished”. Something does not add up.

In what world does a “cult” just instantly brush that off like nothing happened and run out to enthusiastically vote en masse for the guy who’s been sort of dishing on them all for the past year?

He announced less than 6 months ago, Trump attacked him before he was re-elected for his second term, and he barely attacked Trump in the early summer. But okay, yeah he's been "dishing" on Trump supporters specifically.

The cultists are thin skinned pussies and don't even realize it.

The point is, if your narrative is correct, then nothing he’s doing makes sense.

Of course, I’m not even the tiniest bit surprised you don’t get it either.

You guys are so dumb about this shite. No one thinks he "deserves" to be the nominee and no one else should run, it's just obvious to anyone who isn't an idiot that he's immensely popular and was always going to run away with the nomination. The RNC did everything they could to promote anyone else, but the people spoke early, often, and loudly.

It was fricking dumb to run against him this time around as a Republican and would have been genius to support him and earn his support for 2028. But sure, repeat your stupid catchphrase.

Yep. Voters found that out in 2023 instead of 2027.

Nah. If by some miracle Trump gets elected, it's not going to leave any coattails. Just like it didn't in 2020 and 2022. There's not going to be any appetite for a "successor" if the second term is anything like the first term.

What’s telling, and the reason for my comment, is that you clowns identify with Trump. If someone questions Trump they’re really questioning you.
They remind me of Obama voters more each day.

The whole "falling out" between the two is centered around DeSantis running, which requires them to bash each other.

Or Trump not realizing he should call it quits and announcing early as frick

They literally cry when Ron gets "attacked" then claim they NEVER attack Drumpf

What? Now Trump isn't only responsible for DeSantis winning in 2016, which I have posted about previously I doubt, but now his national support is 100% dependent on Trump? Come on

Ok...if it wasnt a possibility then why has he sat at around 10% the whole primary fighting garbage candidates for the small never Trumper support. Trump still holds the majority of support on the Right. Even if people have someone else as #1 he is the majorities 2nd option, so will still vote for him. Trump has more sway than anyone on the political Right. Like it or not, idc as it doesn't matter.

So yes, want to accept it or not, Desantis had a WAY easier road to hoe in 28, instead of 24.

He underestimated the fact that Trump supporters wouldn't turn on him, and they did just that - viciously so. Thing is, how did he not realize that? How did he not know that would happen. I too was very much a Ron fan. I could see the wheels turning slowly so there was ample opportunity to hit the Stop button and return to the MAGA cave. But he doubled down. Now he's obviously out on 2024 and I think he has derailed his entire political career. Maybe there's a chance in '28 if Trump doesn't win it but I think that there's enough rebels in the overall party that will not let it return to establishment control ever again.

He's been reduced to a "Well, if Trump is barred from running" candidate because that's now all he has, and quite honestly, reveals a lot about his character. He's a walking Republican cautionary tale.

There were months of "hype" he was running prior though. It was the worse kept secret at the time. Any general Fox news watching grandma knew he was running. I know cause mine asked me my thoughts on him running months way before his announcement.

So Trump is bad and an idiot for being proactive to try to derail his campaign out of the gate.

I don’t think opportunism speaks to his character, as much as not reading the room. I think he thought he’d have a decent shot, but couldn’t get out the gate. Right or wrong, Trump has a stranglehold on the party right now. I wish they would’ve ran together. Trump needs to talk to Burgum or RDS about VP.

Exactly. I get people preferring Desantis, but the main point is over estimating the ability to take enough of Trumps supporters. Not sure who sold him on that, but they were wrong.

Seems like there are so many here that just don't want to accept that. Who are equivalent to the people they refer to as "tCult"

I think Burgum as a VP option has potential too.

I kept thinking the same thing. When Ron was first being wooed by the establishment, the bombs Trump was throwing weren't nukes. They were just shots across the bow. But his flirting eventually became too much - and then, well who knows? When the big boys in the GOPe are showing up at the door with polls, you have to trust your heart.

Make no mistake. This Ron had the tiger by the tail:

When Paul Ryan and Karl Rove started knocking on the door, he should have told them to frick off. But now we'll always be left to wonder... what if.
