That defaulted credit card debt was $30,000 for a restaurant that she owned that failed rather quickly. Her parents supposedly bailed her out on that.

He did not. There is zero evidence of this. Carter admitted to being depressed after his 1980 loss to Ronald Reagan (about 1/50 millionth thanks to me) but that is a normal response to a major loss in one’s life, and it came after his presidency - or with about two months left.
