It is estimated that 45 million people in the US contracted the flu. 61,000 died. So 0.1% of people who contracted the flu died.

Now let's compare that to Covid rates.
30,897,028 tested positive
558,028 deaths - 1.8% died

This a great example of covid fearmongering dishonesty. You use estimated flu cases, but only use actual confirmed cases of covid to make the death rate seem higher than it is. What is the estimated number of covid cases? That will significantly reduce the death rate.

Live in fear if you want to, but don't be a dishonest hack to try to make covid seem more deadly than it is.

A little bit of research shows that 23% more people died in 2020 than what models expected. That's pretty significant.

Models also said we would have over 2 million covid deaths. Models predict dozens of paths for a hurricane. Models are mostly shite that no rational person would use to justify an argument.

Certainly the CDC isn't padding the numbers?

i don't think anyone has ever really tried to say that.
You mean besides OP and the person who wrote the linked article and several posters in this thread?

Now the question will be do we see a corresponding decrease this year? In other words, did COVID just pull through a bunch of 2022 deaths.
Well of course. Assuming covid mostly goes away over the next year or so, we should expect death rates to be slightly lower than typically expected for several years afterward.

Thanks, but I can only take so much of this place these days. I stopped by way more often than usual last year, and it burned me out.

The flu season that gave us the highest amount of deaths was 2017-2018. It is estimated that 45 million people in the US contracted the flu. 61,000 died. So 0.1% of people who contracted the flu died.

Now let's compare that to Covid rates.
30,897,028 tested positive

They were right. Covid has been far deadlier than our worst flu season.

You're comparing apples to oranges.

Flu deaths in 2017-18 were counted very differently than COVID deaths in 2020 were. If anybody that died in 2017/18 while carrying the flu virus, or having carried the flu virus in the past 30 days, or exhibited flu-like symptoms whether carrying the flu virus or not - if all those decedents had been counted as "flu deaths," what do you think the flu death total for 2017/18 would be?

This...

Of those 500k Covid deaths, 10k+ had a comorbidity of "self inflicted injury" How, exactly, does one die of Covid after shooting oneself, or OD'ing.... Hhhhhmmmm?
These China Virus numbers are manufactured bullshite due to hospitals being paud more for every case.. You Covid fear mongering trolls are too stupid to think for yourselves. This virus lie is the greatest terrorist action in recorded history.

18x as deadly as a typical flu. I know 5 persons that have come down with serious COVID illness, with high fevers, respiratory distress, diarrhea, etc. Two required hospitilization, and one guy who's 67 has been in the hospital for 4 months now. He's doing better now, but recovery has been a slow process.

The Covid deaths are false. Due to Cares Act money anyone who died of anything at the hospital and tested posted for Covid was listed as Covid cause of death when it was not.
