Okay so by your viewpoint the only thing that matters is the letter of the law not the spirit of the law. So just know, when the democrats take office and outlaw all weapons you better line up and turn them in. If it’s the law it’s the law is what you’re saying. The law is untouchable in your eyes. There are no bad laws in your eyes.

Your whole point is based on what is legal in a state or not.
So if a state makes parents being able to frick their children legal, you are fine with it. At that point the government isn't telling someone how to raise their kids.
On the flip side, if the state now makes child genital mutilation illegal in all circumstances, you are fine with that, because its not the government telling parents how to raise their kids

So support for the bill should be given even if we want more.
