China is in economic dire straights. Their banking structure is under extreme pressure, they are cooking the Hong Kong goose that lays the golden eggs, a large percentage of their gold reserves are fake, they are fighting India over Himalaya Mountains, they bet against Trump and lost.

While we have been distracted with pointless impeachments, bogus investigations and covid china has expanded their influence greatly.
They are our enemy and we almost need the conflict with them to get our nation focused on that fact. We would suffer for a little while since we have come to depend on them way too much but nothing gets Americas arse in gear like having someone to hate.

I could see China employing a wag the dog tactic with their current economic conditions. I can’t see that as a war in the US but might start something that turns into a proxy conflict (maybe Taiwan?).

China is not stupid enough to do this. They should know they are not just outclassed by the US but they are surrounded by US allies that hate them more than we do right now. Japan, Taiwan, Korea, India, etc. all have more reasons than the US to hate China. China would be committing suicide if they tried anything violent.
