Ehhh, should the government subsidize all private organizations?
They sure like to tell private organizations/corporations what to do (think Covid stupidity) so yeah, they should be on the hook.

All you'd need are your recently found rock solid principles of small government.
My pointing out the hypocrisy of the “small government types” who have consistently been begging for more government intrusion apparently bugs you.
When I point out the hypocrisy and contradictions of the board, I rarely espouse my personal beliefs.

The government shouldn't have to talk you into being for reducing the size of the huge, sprawling government we have now. If you really adhere to small government principles.
Likewise. Small government principles don’t align with taxpayer funded security for private organizations. You can make whatever emotional appeals you want in attemtps to justify your hypocrisy but it’s still hypocrisy.

you sure didn't love it then.
What specifically are you referring to? What exactly are you accusing me of supporting?

You’re a bigger idiot than I thought if that’s what you read into my post. But it looks like to me and others, that you don’t give a damn about any kids that don’t attend government funded schools. So you are saying kids that are indoctrinated by socialism should only be protected. Got it.

I dunno, are private residences usual targets of MASS SHOOTINGS?
What makes the lives of homeschooled kids less important than the lives of private school kids? Why do you want protection for private school kids and not homeschooled kids?

Have any homeschool families ASKED for paid details?
They know they aren’t entitled to that but you’re saying they ARE entitled to taxpayer funded security because they are required to get an education.

The government should not give religious private schools funds for any reason.
What if this was a Muslim School in Dearborn. MI, and they needed funds for protecting children from Muslim haters?
The fact that many of you can't see this very slippery slope is incredible.

Bish... I didn't even say all that. Take that strawman, shove it up yer rump sideways and set it on fire.
You are not nearly as clever as you think you are.

Wow.. Is anyone actually opposed to protecting Muslim school students?
What slippery slope? All taxpayers are funding education... state mandated education. Does it matter WHERE the child goes to school as to whether or not they receive reasonable protection?

My kids go to a small private school. I don't want any government funds used for our school.
Posted on 8/28/25 at 5:46 pm to SallysHuman
The students should absolutely receive protection... funded by the private, for-profit institution. The question here is not whether kids deserve protection, but who pays for it

This is a very enlightening statement. You're okay with taking guns away but not with protecting children.

the small government conservatives will be here to explain how using public money to pay for the private security of private organizations is a tenet of small government conservativism.
Your argument might hold water if those private school parents didn't pay taxes for public schools upkeep.
The other massive hole in your gotcha is this is at the state level. The "small government conservatives" you're citing object to the federal government usurping states' rights and responsibilities.

It’s a said situation but at the end of the day they are private schools and do not have a right to public funds.

The government has no funds. That is YOUR MONEY.

I would just like an acknowledgement that because I pay for both public school and private school, I'm better than the people who only pay for public school.
I'll accept all the double standards pending that admission.

Sure, but we pay for that with taxes. I am talking about the government giving the school money for guards, or them providing the protection. I don't want them to have any reason to be able to tell us what subjects to teach, who we have to accept, and other things like that.
Posted on 8/28/25 at 5:53 pm to Red Stick Rambler
I don’t know of the government should be made responsible for a guard at every school. Our kids are at a Catholic school, each family pays a small fee for security every year (given fees for each sport and other crap, it is really small). As a result, we have an armed sheriff onsite 30min before school until 1 hour afterwards. The church is also locked during school mass, parishioners can come in, but at mass time the doors are locked. There are a host of other security features that have been implemented and we have a walk through with the Sheriff’s office and local fire department every year to asses the security and provide input.
This is not complicated if the administration is willing.
