re: Tillis applauds jury’s rejection of Justice Department’s attempt to indict Democrats

ATLANTA — An FBI affidavit used to seize 2020 election ballots from Georgia's Fulton County omitted key findings from state investigators that undercut many questions about wrongdoing, an NPR analysis finds.
President Trump and his allies sought unsuccessfully to overturn that election, pushing baseless claims of widespread fraud. Fulton County's 2020 ballots were counted three separate times, with the results affirmed.
The affidavit — written by FBI Special Agent Hugh Raymond Evans and unsealed Tuesday — led to a judge signing off on a search warrant of Fulton County's elections hub, just outside Atlanta. The FBI executed that search warrant on Jan. 28, seizing more than 650 boxes of ballots and other 2020 election materials.
Yet the FBI's justification for seizing materials from more than five years ago relies on misleading claims of wrongdoing that were already investigated in detail by state law enforcement.
The claims largely align with allegations found in three cases presented to the Georgia State Election Board. Reports obtained by NPR show that investigators with the Georgia secretary of state's office found isolated examples of Fulton County election workers violating rules and procedures, but ultimately those errors did not affect the county's accurate tally.
quote:
State investigators already debunked claims of "defects"
The FBI investigation, according to the affidavit, is focused on five alleged "deficiencies or defects" with the election and the subsequent tabulation: missing images of ballots, ballots that were scanned multiple times, inconsistent vote counts during a hand-count audit, ballots that could have been improperly inserted into the totals and changing vote totals during a machine recount.
Of the five, NPR's review of state investigative files found only one claim that was "partially substantiated" by law enforcement who are trained election investigators — that some batches of ballots were scanned twice during a Trump-requested recount.
But ultimately, a 2024 report reads, "These investigative findings do not affect the accuracy of the results of the 2020 General Election in Fulton County, which were confirmed as accurate by both the [Risk-Limiting Audit] and the Recount."
In that same case, investigators found that the individuals who filed the complaint — Joe Rossi and Kevin Moncla — used incorrect calculations and records not involved in tallying results to make claims about missing images and tabulator tapes and changing vote totals.
Rossi's complaint matches the description of a redacted Witness 1 in the affidavit, which highlights the fact that investigations were opened, but not the conclusion that almost all of the claims were unfounded.
State law at the time also did not require counties to maintain ballot images as records. A 2021 omnibus bill that made numerous changes to Georgia elections added a requirement that ballot images be made publicly available.

About 20-25 years ago I served for two weeks on a grand jury that was considering local cases. I remembered that a few cases were settled out-of-court before we voted on them, but I don't remember any where we failed to return an indictment. Even though a grand jury only hears the prosecution's side of a case, the evidence presented was always enough for an indictment to trial. That's the norm.

Wong. They told the military to ignore illegal orders. Big difference.

I have to agree with you. My observation on this expanding corruption being it appears to me the level of corruption quickened during the Kennedy / Johnson years. Then more evil (Roe v Wade, the Viet Nam War, the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II) followed. It just seemed to me the evil was quickening. But I digress.
I always found Jackie Kennedy's comment after they loaded the body of her husband in AF1 a bit odd. It was on the flight that LBJ was administered the Oath of Office as President as Jackie Kennedy looked on. No secret RFK was no admirer of LBJ. Clearly the Kennedy's made a lot of enemies in Washington,D.C. and LBJ was at the top of the list of those enemies.
As AF1 carried the body of her husband back to Washington, D. C. Jackie was asked if she would like to remove her blood soaked brain tissue laden dress, to which she responded,"No, I want them to see what they did to my husband". After doing research on Lyndon Johnson I'm convinced he was behind the assassination of President Kennedy. IMO leaving that dress on was Jackie Kennedy's way of sending a message to her husbands murderers (including LBJ) that she knew. LBJ was a corrupt morally bankrupt, evil, psychopath, and I'm being generous. In the end "Truth" always rises to the surface.
Fast forward to the beginning of President Trump's first term. During one of his early rambling news conferences he makes this startling comment,"It's hard for the average American to realize the level of corruption in Washington, D.C". I recall thinking - Mr. President maybe you shouldn't be saying that since it will not sit well with people behind that corruption.
BOOM! Fast forward to Butler, Pennslvania and that assassin gaining access to that unsecured roof. A roof with a clear direct line shot to President Trump. Thankfully, God stepped in and said - NO! So that assassination attempt failed - but they tried again with that dude at that golf course in Florida.
I'll say it. If America is saved it will be because of divine intervention from God. The same God who stepped in and caused President Trump to turn his head ever so slightly as to cause that bullet to leave him with only a flesh wound to his ear. For that we should be in a perpetual state of prayer.
For people like Lyndon Johnson, Bill Clinton, and Joe Biden the notion that absolute power corrupts absolutely is painfully true.
Pray.

Were you in a district where 96% of the jury pool politically aligned with the accused? A political ideology where morality and ethics are at the bottom of concerns?
That's the insulation that Democrats have in the DC Courts and one of many reasons they have near impunity from consequences of illegal acts and corruption.

During the Vietnam war in 1968 Lt William Calley led a massacre of the village of My Lai, here’s the results:
Massacre
As the "search and destroy" mission unfolded, it soon degenerated into the massacre of over 300 apparently unarmed civilians including women, children, and the elderly. Calley ordered his men to enter the village firing, though there had been no report of opposing fire. According to eyewitness reports offered after the event, several old men were bayoneted, praying women and children were shot in the back of the head, and at least one girl was raped and then killed. For his part, Calley was said to have rounded up a group of the villagers, ordered them into a ditch, and mowed them down in a fury of machine gun fire.
At his trial, Calley testified that he was ordered by Captain Ernest Medina to kill everyone in the village of My Lai. Still, there was only enough photographic and recorded evidence to convict Calley, alone, of murder. He was sentenced to life in prison.
He followed an unlawful order and it was him who paid the price. Soldiers can’t be warned enough that following unlawful orders is a choice not to make.

You were told yesterday that you're full of shite and it's a crime to incite military members to disobey lawful orders.

Like I always say, America's #1 enemy is our very own corrupt political system.
Absolutely, no doubt. If we the people won't elect better congressional representation, then the last line of defense lands upon us.

I’m not opening a frikin thing, just the observation that everyone saw. Thats kinda like chiding someone on a message board for being too over confident, and somehow that might cost the team.
