If they know what they're doing and do it the right way, you have zero recourse other than going through the court system and waiting it out to evict them.
That's why it's such a hot button topic, because of the absurdity of the laws being in favor of the squatter.

but they are also lying about it with fraudulent leases.
What should happen is a quick turnaround and once it is determined the squatter did not belong in your house, they immediately get a breaking and entering charge and if they provided a fake least to a cop, that's another charge for forgery. And you prosecute those 2 charges and any others to the fullest extent of the law, as well as the squatter being responsible to pay the homeowner a set amount of money that can be determined per day for the repairs the homeowner now needs to do to get the house back in good condition.

Don't know about Memphis but everything is stripped out of the abandoned houses in Detroit so they'd freeze to death.
