You are dense. If Graves loses out fine, but the plan Landry is pushing is beyond stupid.

What’s best for our state? What’s best for me and St George?

Why does Landry believe this plan to combine Shreveport and BR is best? Has he said why?

Has he said that?

Landry isnt exactly a person with a history of compromise and being ok with not getting his way.

So how does Landry benefit from this vendetta against Graves?

Unless you are literally Garret Graves, how is that better?

It is better geographically.

It’s not perfect, but it makes nice NW and SW districts. You get a good SE coastal district. The NO district is better than the one now. The fifth and sixth districts are OK.

The biggest flaw is the BR area is carved up, but it is now.

I never said that he had a vendetta against Graves. Others speculated he did, and you jumped in to defend Landry.

I played devil’s advocate and asked the simple question, has Landry stated why he chose the plan he is backing? Until he does his critics will fill in the blanks.

That's probably me.

Landry doesn't benefit per se, but he does have a vendetta because Graves pimped Wags to run against Landry.

Also Cameron Henry (the Senate President) is following the wishes of his old boss (Scalise) in taking out Graves.

Both of those together = no district for Graves.

You aren’t the only one.

My point is Landry should explain himself. Why this plan? Why not an alternative plan. After all the plan approved will set the Congressional districts for our state for the next four election cycles. It’s a big deal.

I think Landry should explain himself.

Yes, he should, but he doesn't have to. R's in
legislature will do what they are told.

If they drew Graves out of the map so he is either out or wins a D district then it’s great and I support.

And then others like yourself will answer the question for him, and his loyal supporters will blame you and not their fearless leader.

This was one of the maps that was originally proposed last year. Makes more sense than this one but it puts R seats at risk.

More detailed:

These are my favorite maps:

Carves up Lafourche and Terrebonne for the minority population.

This one carves Lafourche into 3 districts.

Another thing to consider about these maps are advertising campaigns for candidates.
Some of those districts in some proposals will cover 3-5 media markets which will drive up the cost to run.

Agree, this is bs. State legislators dont want to challenge local judge ruling. Says it will cost hundreds of millions. Sounds like bs to me. They should be drawn by economic centers. Supreme Court just ruled title 9 is unconstitutional. They should challenge….

Tbh, that map seems to be pretty representative to me.

If I was forced to gerrymander two districts based on race (its really about adding D's to the House - not race), I would create those two districts so that the black voters outnumber the white voters by exactly 1 (or as close to 1 as possible).

Frick the liberals.

This is what I have been saying.

If the Dems want to give up one safe district for two unsafe ones... let's roll.

It's rare for the Dems to make this kind of political mistake... we need to punish them for it. We don't get many chances like this.

Eventually the district would change one way of another. But do what? I like the way you are thinking.
