You have to be a special kind of stupid to believe that state and local governments, both red and blue, are joined in some kind of nefarious conspiracy to “take over society”

As is watching you refuse to answer one single question.

Look, I have walked you through the data, its sources, the studies available, and the logic and reasoning behind applying the data to produce estimates based on the studies. The result is an estimated number of infected that is a full order of magnitude higher than what the current test data has revealed, which necessarily drops the naive CFR by a full order of magnitude to get us closer to the true CFR. I have never once claimed that this is absolute truth. Rather, I have laid out a rational argument for why I believe a CFR in the neighborhood of 0.5% makes the most sense at this time.

Your counter-argument, if you can call it that, has consisted entirely of you simply claiming that everything I say is wrong, and your only attempt at backing up your claims has been to point out that your siblings work in health care.

And in your strange mind, you have completely dominated the discussion. It takes all kinds, I guess.

Bizarro land.

Anyway, Happy Easter to you and your family.

Nope, all false. At this point you’re trying to convince yourself and reset the lies you’ve told. The problem is people already saw em and you’re exposed. But I know your kind you think if you get the last post in you’ve justified your effort so go ahead, your own biased purpose is all you’re here to serve anyway.

People who put too much faith in data without caring about the economic side will never admit we overestimated and overreacted. It destroys the foundation of their lives that "experts" should be trusted 100% even beyond the area of their expertise. They'll turn a blind eye to the data on wasted careers and businesses because they have unequivocal faith in "experts" who happen to be human, like all of us.

But they get terribly angry if you question the course of action. It's a classic case of tunnel vision and incapable of seeing the big picture.

Literally every person I know who is trying to understand and take the data seriously is absolutely certain that we may be overestimating and overreacting.

That's the whole goddamn point. You use the data to put in place protocols that eliminate the worst case scenarios.

I find it ironic, in a way, that this kind of thinking is on a board primarily about football, a sport, like most sports, where you absolutely overplan and over-prepare. You start at a minimum with a great recruiting, and then you prepare as much as is legally permissible (or push the envelope as much as you dare) so that you overestimate every obstacle and overplan every play so that you have a perfect season. All the time knowing that you may well over plan and over prepare for the lesser opponents.

The over planners aren't going to admit that overplanning was wrong, although I'm admitting to overplannning is going to be a much easier admission. Two very different things.

My wife got a great score on the bar exam. I got the very minimum. Both of us were totally happy with the amount of effort we put into studying. She because she played it supper safe and was over-prepared, and me because I didn't expend any extra effort that wasn't required.

Both of us will quite easily justify our approach. it goes both ways when providence works out for you.

Your wife’s over preparation didn’t put 25 million people out of work or get hijacked by the nazi party of America. Not even on the same spectrum.

Oh by the way..”.nice we are both lawyers” subtle brag. Are either of you named Karen?

Now let’s say that you were forced to spend $1,000 for every hour each of you studied. Are the approaches still equal? Because that’s a helluva lot closer to reality than a salaried football coach.

It never was about the virus. It was always about the democratic hoax. The virus was just a hoax all along.

We shut the fricking economy down, genius.

I understand being somewhat risk averse, but Ths is an incredible overreaction that is crushing people's dreams who put their life into building a business that was ordered closed.

Now I'm sure you and your wife are doing fine but you're absolutely out of touch with the reality that much of America is facing.

Only when this becomes real to you, will you get it
