Not only that, but continue decapitating their leaders until you get someone to work with.
Use propaganda to turn IRGC or make them walk away.
Problem is midterms.

But let's play this out - you bomb Iran and they hold the straight. You've just caused a massive dip in supply so prices of oil/gas just jumped to easily +$6 a gallon.
How long would you do that for? Most Americans are about to pay their taxes next week and already feel the financial burden of this war - as fuel increases EVERYTHING increases.
You willing to do it through May and June?
What do you think happens to republicans in the midterms if citizens are being hit domestically with a terrible economy in the name of a regime change war in the Middle East? Also now it's admitting this is all about regime change, not a nuclear warhead. Which Iran could literally just buy from Russia.
Do you think China would let this go on until June? Hell they might go in and remove the IRGC for us if we held up the straight until June. I'm only half kidding but it is a much bigger problem for them than us.

Sending oil sky high for many months on end, on purpose, seems like a really dumb thing to do.

China is actively making a move on Taiwan right now while we’re distracted.
So you think China said hey while Russia and Iran are super busy right now, we should attack Taiwan? Yes the US is involved in Iran but the US is one of the few countries that could fight a multi-front war without breaking a sweat. Not to mention that Israel could continue the bombing runs on Iran infrastructure while we helped defend Taiwan. Which we would absolutely do regardless if a democrat or republican was in office.

That’s why we took strategic assets out of the Pacific to move them into the Middle East, right?
The truth is that China will end up neutralizing Taiwan without having to fire a single shot.
Saying we can fight a multi-front war without breaking a sweat is such nonsense. You’ve been swallowing too much propaganda without even chewing. We’ve barely even begun to prepare for a war with China and the current war in Iran is already putting massive pressure on our forces. The world is watching and they’re seeing our inability to handle a regional threat like Iran.
What would we do if China launched an attack with its missiles and drones? They’ll make Iran’s attacks look like a toddler’s birthday party with sparklers compared to a fireworks show at Disney World.

Unless your ideology gives you the belief that your role in life is to catalyze Armageddon… of course it’s dumb.

I am not a downvoter.
UptownJoeBrown is exactly right about this.
But... We are NOT negotiating from the position of power we are really in. ANY attack, on any vessel, should result in major attacks on remaining targets within Iran.
We should protect the shipping lane. BS is called to what Iran is trying to do now. Yet, at the same time, our protection should compensated by all who transit the strait.

Taiwanese security officials say China has surged nearly 100 naval and coast guard vessels across the East and South China Seas this week, well above the usual 50–60,
Well this explains why the Iranian re pissed, we blew up their entire country and all we had to do was deploy a few more ships and ride around the Persian Gulf to accomplish our goals.

Iran still exports oil to countries like China. Kharg Island is where 90% of Iranian oil exports are done. Hit Kharg Island but only damage it enough to where it’s inoperable and can be repaired fairly quickly once the regime is done. If they repair it, hit it again.
Just blockade the island!

Current chatter is that with the Iranian leadership in graves and tatters, the IRGC (which is essentially running the country, or at least the military) has splintered into two factions: those who want to negotiate and those who do not.
The idea would be to get those two factions to fight one another to the point of their winnowing one another down to ineffectiveness.

So you’re telling me that we can’t fly a drone directly on to a certain important valve and detonate it?
No we can absolutely do that.
Do you understand how explosions work? And how equipment is placed? We’d blow up your certain important valve…and take out a ton of the infrastructure around it.
I swear, some of you people have seen way too many movies.

This 100% ........ Simple and true!

Xi has ordered his military to be ready to sieze Taiwan by 2027.

The bullet hasn't been fired yet, but we are actively weakening our ability to gather allies for that kind of war, and fighting there would be like another country trying to take Long Island away from the US.

We'd probably go nuclear at that point.
Trump is too old and impulsive to be calling those shots.
