For homeowners looking for a new place but worried about giving up their lower mortgage rate, I'm proposing a $10,000 tax credit if they sell their starter homes.

That means more folks can get into houses that suit their needs, unlocking affordable homes for first-time buyers

They're overtly telling you you're about to be replaced and the permanent serf class is coming.

I love when the government makes things less affordable and then "addresses" the problem by doing more of what made things less affordable in the first place.

I know there’s a big generational divide on this board but starter homes since 2020 have been cost prohibitive for most young people. Not serfs.

This 10k is really stupid. How about banning foreign conglomerates from buying up thousands of starter homes in the US. Canada just did this.

For instance, in Raleigh there is a japanese company that owns like 7,000 starter homes to rent out.

Government should just buy everyone starter houses.

Oh wait, that’s what they want. To control you.

The permanent serf class is already here. It began roughly around the LBJ era.

10K in tax credits doesnt really move the needle. The higher rates and inflated prices are causing untenable cash flow issues for buyers, that hurt the poors far more than those looking to upgrade. They'll just take their fat refund and piss it away like they always do.

that said, I support giving every American taxpayer a 10K tax credit - regardless of housing status!

I'm saying big companies will buy these houses and create a serf class by taking all the housing off the market

How did government make homeprices higher? That was all free market. If anything, higher interest rates should make new construction more attractive....not by much currently, new housing stock has been limited for a decade.

Real estate investment companies have purchased 10-15% of single family homes since the financial and real estate meltdown of 2008/2009, that's a lot of homes and it accelerated the rise in home prices across the country. There also have been a shite ton of single family homes snatched up by vacation rental companies.

I would probably actually benefit from this depending on how it is written, but it is an absolutely terrible idea and shouldn't be considered.

It won't pass the House so it is a moot point, he is trying to score political points.

Just ban ANY foreign entity, individual or company to own land in the US.
