It is the very nature of an “affirmative defense” in a criminal case that the defendant acknowledges having committed the offense, but contends that his actions were legally justified (for example, by “self-defense”).

Obviously, very few posters on this forum care about the niceties of the legal theory. They don’t find it interesting. That is fine.

What I do not understand is the childish insistence upon misrepresenting the nature of that exchange of posts. I said from the beginning that Rittenhouse would prevail on self-defense ... while the majority here was martyr-whining that he would spend life in prison due to Dem dirty tricks.
