Do Americans have to undergo a background check to engage in free speech?

Do they have to undergo a background check to not experience warrantless searches?

Do 18 year olds have to undergo a background check before voting?

The real purpose of background checks is to condition everyone to believe that you must have government permission to exercise your 2nd Amendment right. And mostly it has worked as intended in that regard.

No background checks. Period.

We barely resemble what the Founders intended. BG checks are but one of ten thousands of examples of this.

Hahaha it's cute that you people cling on to the constitution like it was never meant to be amended as society changed.

But it's to be expected, people that hang onto words of racist dudes that lived 200+ years ago, are the same ones that would hang onto words from a 2000 year old fiction novel as fact.

Then start the amendment process and change it.

There is a process for amending. You don't get to change it without the process just because you feel like it. Furthermore, the right to defend yourself does not come from the constitution, it is a natural right.

So why isn’t anyone proposing amending the constitution if it can be amended. Are you admitting that these changes would require a new amendment?

Agreed. Going back to the mail order days would be incredible. I don't see it happening in my lifetime though. Too unpopular.

They don't either. Some States hand out ID's like M&M's

Amend it then. Not legislating it out of existence. AMEND it. It wasn't intended to be easy to amend, it was meant to be a hard, thought-out process. If you feel that strongly about it, and you apparently believe you have the backing, amend it.

I bet you could ask your average gun control supporter if mass shootings are more frequent now than they were 25+ years ago and they would say that absolutely they are much higher now.

However, prior to 1993 there were no background checks done at all for gun sales and the exact same “assault weapons” were on the market back then. Something has obviously changed during that time and it’s not the “easy access to assault weapons.” These gun control proposals will do nothing except add undue burden to lawful gun owners and further erode their rights just so politicians can pat themselves on the back and move on to something else for a while until another shooting happens.

I disagree, those with assault felonies should not have guns.

Maybe any felony but on the fence because I would need to learn more.

I'll bet you drop an N bomb on a black dude the moment a Saint or LSU receiver drops an easy pass.

I agree on principal but there is no putting that toothpaste back in the tube. The key now is to fight any further incursion such as this BS red flag law.

Should people convicted of fraud or another crime of deception lose their right to free speech?
