There are too many soft targets to defend them all with armed presence

We succeeded in protecting airlines.

They moved on to pedestrian walk-ways and concerts.

So we protect schools?

What about shopping malls? What about youth sporting events? What about restaurants? Casinos?

I don't have the answers, but this seems like a "just do something" type of response.

The glaring error in this whole thing is the failure of multiple levels of law enforcement and school administration.

Perhaps law enforcement should dedicate more resources to stopping this type of thing, rather than wasting the bulk of their manpower and budget giving tickets for expired inspection stickers or, in the case of the FBI, wasting millions of dollars trying to make headlines with high profile white-collar cases.

There is always a way to kill people. It can never be stopped.

Vegas opened up an entirely new arena for murdering people. You can never stop it completely.

How about we start with enforcing laws and prosecuting people that break laws with guns?

I read an article that talked about how many murders were committed in Chicago by people with PRIOR violent convictions. Many of them with gun charges. Why aren't those people in prison for life?

Stuff on the books is not being enforced already by liberal judges. We had 3 people in Houston that killed a guy during a carjacking here in Houston that were just arrested in California. All of the had looooong violent criminal records. Liberal cocksucker judge let the out of Harris County jail by paying $10,000 as 10% of the $100K bond set by the judge.

Police Union here is pissed about the low bonds judges are giving these violent thugs. This isn't a gun problem. Read this if you want your blood to boil.

Funny that Isreal doesn't seem to have this problem at all:

They have a requirement of armed guards in schools with 100 or more students.

I agree with all of that.

Strict enforcement of gun violations with severe sentencing.

This impacts Democratic constituencies more. Will not happen.

More than one thing needs to be done to help with this blight on America...

1) 1 National Guardsman on every school campus as part of their duty/tour.
2) Arm 1 or two teachers and provide them with training and emergency procedures.
3) Update each school with "saferooms" and auto locking doors for emergencies with live shooters.
4) Legislation for getting guns needs to be tough...no mental illness history...
5) If cops have been called on you, you have to be evaluated by a board or council before getting approved for a gun.

If bad people want to kill, they will always find a way. We need to close more of the loopholes to lessen the damage.

It's worked great in Paris over the past year-plus. They had more Moslem terror attacks than we have school massacres and the armed military guards have stopped the attacks from the swarthy invaders.

Expanding permissive CCW permitting and Constitutional Carry would be a good start.

How do you think Law Enforcement is largely funded?

While I'm sure there are mistakes that were made and that can be fixed; law enforcement isn't the problem.

Your original point was best. You cannot prevent this completely. And if you want to limit the damage, you have to allow and encourage law abiding citizens to carry guns.

And anywhere you decide has to be fun free, you accept the cost of very comprehensive controls to enforce said gun free zones.

The worst of both worlds is to have a gun free zone with no security enforcing it. It like putting a bullseye on the back of the school.

Do not support. You're basically guilty until proven innocent in this scenario and anyone can have the police called on them for any reason.

It should be funded through taxes. I do not agree with the hidden tax of tickets and fines.

Correct. David French proposed a gun violence restraining order. It would expire after three or so weeks unless convincing evidence was put forward to continue it. And it wouldn’t assume a person shouldn’t have a gun. But would provide an avenue for restricting gun purchases for people with known issues.

This is why some kind of board looks at the circumstances to make sure someone who didn't do anything wrong is treated unfairly. This kid had cops called on him like 29 times...and not a flag in the system on this.

Most National Guard soldiers are part time. They do not have an actual duty/tour. Plus I imagine you are probably too young to remember this event kent state

There are rules now regarding when National Guard can carry actual bullets... since the 70's..
