90% of the landowners have wanted a wall for decades.

I mean, for better or worse, the concept of eminent domain is pretty well established in American law. You've never struck me as someone who might be willing to overturn such a well established notion. I certainly haven't seen anything from you on this issue before now. Is that something you're onboard with on property rights across the board?

There are ranchers who will welcome this but there is a also a % of land owners who will not welcome this.
Anyone have a link that gives an idea how many landowners representing how many linear miles of border will not voluntarily allow a border wall to be built on their property?
If we built the wall everywhere else but these hypothetical properties, at least we would be funneling them down to specific regions and maybe those landowners would get with the program.

How does the board feel about the possibility of the Govt talking peoples land through eminent domain. This to me is the issue that now one is talking about. It will hold up the wall for years in court. I am not a fan of eminent domain at all. Thoughts?

How many posters here are being asked to?

Why is this even a topic. There is a 60 foot easement for most of the border established in 1907. The parts that don't have an easement will be acquired thru eminent domain if they don't accept the governments offer to buy the land strips.

None of TX is included in the Roosevelt Reservation.

water, among other issues.
Let’s say that the government takes a 100 foot strip right along the river. Ranches in far west Texas are big. The amount of land is really not that big an issue. But, the Rio Grande is in all likelihood the only source of water in the pasture in question. As such, the government might only be technically “taking“ a few hundred acres, but it will be rendering thousands of acres utterly useless for grazing.

Perhaps, but the article doesn't say anything about such a thing. It's weird, if that's the big issue here.
Nearly every lawmaker who represents a district or state along the U.S.-Mexico border — including two Republicans — either opposes outright or more quietly declines to support President Donald Trump’s $5.7 billion request for a border wall, according to a survey conducted by POLITICO.

No it won’t. It will be expedited and happen within months.

eight of nine border lawmakers are Democrats.
Yeah this is not really a big deal and Cornyn has not said that he does not support it...
I swear can you fricks read or not?

Agreed. The percentage is likely much higher.

There should be a permanent 100' right of way along the border anyway.
