Oh my God.

If the citizens of Venezuela were armed, they could take this guy down. They are not armed, so all they can do is hoot and holler. Because all they can do is hoot and holler, the United States is helping them. The United States is helping them by seizing this guy's money and giving it to his opposition.

If the citizens of Venezuela were armed, the United States would not need to electronically transfer this guy's money.

The article didn't make it clear unless I missed it. Are they planning on seizing Maduro's personal assets or Venezuela's national assets, or are those one in the same? If it's the first then I guess they would be treating Maduro as an enemy of the US or a criminal, like a drug lord. If it's the second then you can say you are holding the assets until the legitimate government take power.

Very interesting development either way.

I guess our military should just throw away all their drones and laser guided missiles and radar technology etc. and pick up a bunch of muskets instead.

What I was thinking too. If it’s just personal assets, have you really done anything? I would imagine at least part of that has to be government controlled under Citgo’s parent company, which I believe is a Venezuelan state oil company

ETA: Looks like the state oil company is the owner and not Maduro

Not one person argued this.

No. They didn't. They were saying that this whole situation would not have occurred if the people had the power to push back against the government. No oppressive socialist government. No need for the US to intervene.

Do you finally get it now?

While technologically advanced, you do realize that all of these are, or have the capability of delivering ordinance don’t you?

You somehow completely ignore the fact that each member of our military carries a firearm.

I'm truly baffled by how stupid you are.

There's so much stupid wrapped up in these 3 sentences it's mind-numbing..

He was equating "guns" to Maduro's guns, not the populace's lack of guns.

A few years ago Chavez's Venezuela nationalized all of the oil exploration and refining operations of foreign oil companies.

I know Exxon lost hundreds of millions of dollars in assets without compensation when that happened.

ETA: TogetherBatonRouge would have celebrated what Chavez did....

It looks like Venezuela tried to sell about half of Citgo to Russia in exchange for a loan? Did that go through?

Why would Trump do this to his buddy Putin?

ETA: Russia owns a sizeable portion of Citgo

Muh Russians indeed

Arguing tech is important is one thing. Arguing guns are irrelevant though is idiotic.

You're all or nothing rhetoric is a pretense.
