Not being interested in a fight that's taking place literally on the opposite side of the planet while being actually interested in protecting our OWN border and sovereignty (while those wanting to do that same for Ukraine but not giving a single frick about our own) IS NOT akin to not having a backbone.

We had an opportunity after the USSR fell but in our own arrogance and smugness in “winning the Cold War” we did some proverbial grinding their face in the mud, sought to weaken them further and were too busy high-fiving and not paying much mind over the years to the rising, crooked oligarchy and crime ring that rose to fill in the communist vacuum over there

That’s just hit on something I have been trying to get you to understand. The fight is half a world away yes. But Ukraine boarders several NATO allies. If one gets attacked Article 5 of the NATO charter kicks in. An attack on one is an attack on all. 1 stray shot in the right place and hits the right target and wham we are obligated by treaty to come to the aid of that country. So this war may as well be in Mexico or Canada. We are that close to WW3 right now anyway. Let one stray shot hit a daycare in Poland somewhere and we are at war.

You can catch a flight to Moldova for about $900 and then you're only about 50 miles from enlisting in the Ukrainian Army

So...the US seems desperate to have Ukraine become a NATO member, but if they become a NATO member and there is any incursion we have to go to war to stop it?

Obama and Biden appeased Putin in 2014 and the took a bit off the apple. Biden is back in office and he is back for a big bit of the apple. He made crazy reference to Poland and the Baltic states like he might try to take them also. All NATO allies. An attack on one is an attack on all. Don’t blame me if you don’t like it I didn’t sign the damn treaty. But you are kidding yourself if you think that Putin might not try to take more than Ukraine because he knows he has 3 more years of a spineless doddering old fool as POTUS. Trump stands a good chance at reelection and when that happens he will have to behave again or Trump will make him hurt.

I refuse to get animated about this many speculations in regards to what he might do.
Again...we have ACTUAL problems that are CURRENTLY happening right now at home. these are not things that MIGHT happen, but that ARE happening right now. And the very same people in the administration and their lap dogs in the press who are beating war drums the most loudly are the very same people turning a blind eye to all of these other issues.
I am not open to listening to anyone berate me for not caring about the sovereignty of Ukraine's borders while the people berating me are ignoring the sovereignty of our own. Until someone can explain why Ukraine's sovereignty is more important than ours, as an American I'm not interested in this at all.
