To control an out of control forest fire you first have to take away what's fueling the inferno...in this case trade! You have to slap the ChiComs and make them sit back a and realize that this is not their world to dominate!!

Do the same with technology and other sectors. Over time we’re hollowed out and vulnerable.

OMG what a crock of crap.

It is almost inevitable if China continues to move toward capitalism that they will become the largest economy in the world. That should be no surprise to any thinking person. They are after all the most populous nation in the world.

The talk that China’s rise means our decline is just crazy talk.

The last time I read something on the subject the USA has military in 150 countries. I would rather we concentrate on reducing our devotion to our role of world policemen before we declare somebody out for world domination.

It’s just foolish to reduce the number of sources of goods and services available to Americans.

You people sound like the fearmongers that attacked the Japanese in the late seventies and early eighties.

China is in no way moving toward capitalism. Their society is adopting Western trends but the government sure AF isn't.

You import goods, where do you send your wires to?

Bank of China?

Then the company gets a rebate from the communist government. For a while they were letting you pay state side but when the trade war started all payments started going back to China.

Larson you are trying to reason with a Trump hater. A group who would protest world peace, universal prosperity and the true fellowship of mankind if it broke out during the current president's tenure.

You can call it state capitalism if you wish but they have moved dramatically toward capitalism the last 40 years and that is just fact.

Free market capitalism ends at the nation's border. Everything beyond that is a matter of national security.

People have correctly criticized national socialism (nazism), international socialism (communism), and international capitalism (globalism/corporatism) for their failures.

However it is national capitalism that made America great, it is that which we should seek to restore.

I B is either:

In denial of the obvious
Or
A communist sympathizer
Or
A person that makes money via China though America's decline (courtesy of poor US policy and China's long term foreign policy).
Or
A combination of the above

After months of going back and forth with him, nothing else seems logical concerning his views.

Once again you show your naviety or purposefully blindfulness to China's true intentions...

Today's IP theft and hacking is nothing compared to their long term objective.

If you read up on Chinese history and culture, then combine it with their global "investments" they've been making the past decade, it becomes clear they are quietly working towards world domination.

NK makes a lot of noise because they are weak and vulnerable.

China is quiet because they are playing the long game.

I get down voted a lot when I say this but why is the US concerned with China and their unfair trade policies now? Our corrupt politicians working with corporate lobbyists orchestrated this mess over the past 40 years predicated on greed and short term corporate profits. I'll say it again, there's a lot of us regular folks who were scratching our fricking heads in the 80's wondering what the hell our government and US corporations were doing giving a communist country funding and advanced manufacturing/industrial technologies. If China would have been left to their own to develop this level of sophistication in their manufacturing and industrial capabilities they would still be 40 years behind us economically and militarily.

That's my post here they are referring to! LOL! I read the WSJ daily and yes hold complete respect for their opinions and articulation. If the article is not there then the odds are 100% I haven't a clue. From your history as a poster I would say you are not a Journal reader. In any event my best answer is SO FRICKING WHAT! Do you agree with the post or disagree.

Damn dude, I was trying to give you a prop. Ain't everybody on here that can get their thread at the top of a google search. And you're right, I don't pay to read the Journal. What difference does that make?
