The trade showdown with China is at it's heart a national security issue.

The Chinese want world domination and nothing short of that will suffice. They are patient, lie and never stick to any agreement they make. And since they are an authoritarian nation they speak with one voice. Once and if they take the lead on technology they will live like dogs in order to support and gain military domination and when they do we are done. Our existence as a nation is literally at stake at some future time and DJT knows that.

This whole post is true.
Only a small minority of people understand this though.

But IB Freeman says tariffs are bad

Don’t really think of China much when it’s all Russia, Russia, Russia

Probably the most clueless poster I have ever seen on this board

He isn’t clueless. He is dishonest. He personally profits from the lack of tariffs.

Yep. They have been playing the decades-long strategy to de-industrialize the US (industry is the backbone of military).
They Subsidize Chinas steel industry and Dump cheap steel here , and force US plants to close.
Do the same with technology and other sectors. Over time we’re hollowed out and vulnerable.

I totally disagree. Dude has been a pure free market advocate ever since I've been reading this board.
You can disagree w his views, but you know where he stands on every economic issue BECAUSE of his honesty.

It's knowledge like this which separates the smart conservatives from the naive libbies.
Unfortunately these libs vote on their naivety.

China is not a free market. The US is competing against China on an uneven field.

His problem is that he only sees things through his little bubble. He can't fathom that tariffs have a lot more to do than a simple trade deal.

This is correct. China is our largest threat, and has been for some time.
Tariffs are a short term strategy, and people who fret over short term strategy are short sighted.
Do not trust them, or their instinct.

I’m betting IBADumbass has never even studied the belt and road initiative China is currently involved in and considered the debt practices its using their to take over areas of other nations to the debt practices its been using in America.

This. I'm betting the majority of his income is based on the sale of Chinese imports. Maybe not just Chinese but foreign imports.

He is motivated purely by his own pockets. Ask him.
His dishonesty is in his presentation. He knowingly posts misleading and flat out untrue statements/arguments. He ignores facts that prove him wrong. And continues to post as if he never was proven wrong.

I’d like to see Trump explain exactly what I described above during a prime time address to the nation. Or during SOTU.
People need to understand why he’s doing what he’s doing.
Chinas intentions aren’t pure. China isn’t trying to improve themselves as much as they are trying to cripple us. That is their objective. And we’ve been a willing participant. Until now.

He can't let the Chinese publically lose face in this. It'll trigger a much bigger retaliation.

I agree it would make shite messy, but they need to be called out on it. They have very little leverage and the world needs to recognize the Chinese for what they are tying to do - collapse democracy
