Trump, as the President, is the CIC just like Biden was during his term, Trump was not.

The tards believed he was during Biden’s term.

Trump is absolutely 100% right on tariffs. Joe Biden forced tons of lumber companies out of business then we paid tariffs on Canadian lumber. That is the reason lumber prices shot up. If you bring companies to America, cut their corporate tax so they can get prices down and create a good environment for expansion. It is going to take time for it to show but it will happen. These countries are pissed because the bank is closed. They have been making a killing off of us.

That or domestic firms will try to increase profitability by marking up to the imports price... which is what will happen because it's way easier than actually growing a business.

So then Americans will pay more regardless...

No, people won't pay that.

You can buy made in the US stuff incredibly easy with e-commerce. Right now, using your keyboard. It's expensive so most people don't, probably you included.

I buy American made.

Partly because my grandpa made brass for Olin-Winchester in East Alton, Illinois for decades, with a break for a few years to fight in WW2. Raised his family and did well for an 8th grade education he was intelligent, but they were poor farmers and they couldn't afford to send the children to high school.

I buy JK work boots at around $600 a pair because they're made here and are of top notch quality. I'm not putting on made in China Ariats when I'm out making high quality furniture in my wood shop or out working on my acreage.

I know I'm a dying breed, but whatever. I'm stubborn as the day is long.

You're misunderstanding me. I'm not talking about the numerator and denominator both having m_i. I'm saying that the constants they used in the denominator, the Greek letters epsilon and phi, are reciprocals of each other. They "calculated" the "tariffs" by taking the ratio of deficit to imports and claimed they adjusted by elasticity constants but those constants multiply to equal 1.

OK, now I see. Sorry.

However, just because they chose constants that cancel, it still can make sense to include the full formula to show the whole picture. Or maybe they would select different values in the future as things change?

The problem for dems who are melting is that tariffs work. Every Nation has them. It’s a legitimate economic reaction to trade imbalances and a tool to protect domestic manufacturing, agriculture, and other industries. It’s not going to bring economic ruin but will actually create wealth internally. The markets will recalibrate and we’ll have a stronger economy in the long run.

Those New Balance shoes are the same price as Nikes high end models. No difference…except NB doesn’t pay LeBron $1 billion since 2016.

Nope. I don't. I try to.

I ordered a big bandsaw the other day, made in Taiwan. I wish it weren't so, but these days on machines like that, it's either Taiwan or China. Taiwan will win that every time.

I actually wear the made in usa new balances, have them on right now.

Here is something to consider. Foreign brands sell cheaper and more expensive shoes than those new balances. And there are US brands that sell shoes made foreign for cheaper and more expensive than those new balances.

Nike vaporflys are like $260.

The nike pegasus premium are $220.

Not to mention that the supply chain for virtually every single thing you consume has some element of international commerce involved in it, "American made" or not.

I don't know what that has to do with my point, which was that you can buy US made sneakers. How many people who post here do you think own a pair?

Uses 150+ suppliers from more than 20 countries to source components, machines and machine parts, etc. to make those "American made" shoes.

I think the Detroit watch company Shinola got roasted for that. People were like "yeah, you put the parts together in Detroit, but all of them come from elsewhere."

And they are still cheaper than jordans.

Im simply pointing out there are products made foreign that are more expensive. And cheaper.

Go figure.

And? Why do you keep bringing up Jordans?

NB makes shoes overseas and they make (or assemble) shoes here. The overseas shoes are cheaper, so that's what people buy.

Because the Jordan brand demands a premium, not because of how and where they are made.

The Run Swift 3 is far cheaper than New Balance (and likely is at a price point at which NB could not feasibly offer), for comparison.

The made in uk new balances are expensive too.

But your made in china nikes are expensive too.
