Who is going to fight it for them? The Emirati's are a tiny minority in their own country.
Better hire a squad of mercenaries with all that money they spend on Lambos and hookers

That might be the biggest understatement of recent times.

There is a historical association and it is included as part of Iran due to a continental shelf agreement with Saudi Arabia.

They've tried that. They have been hiring Sudanese mercenaries for a long while. They have also failed in a massive way in their foreign policy moves since 2011.

A ceasefire is in place to iron out the deals. You stop shooting long enough to try and negotiate.
The so called terms of the ceasefire are not being fully followed. Maybe it should be called a reduced fire and not a ceasefire.
The problem is too many countries have been affected and it will be very difficult to come to any of kind of agreement with all involved.

Sounds like they have no true patriots. Just money.
Glad we have both in the US.

Why? We have ourselves a deal saying that it is open.

They are a former collection of villages which swam for pearls. The majority of the country is South Asian. Emirati's make up only around 10-15% of the population. None of the Gulf Arab countries have the demographics to actually stand up to the larger powers in the region.

Isn't Hawaii now part of the US? And isn't Guam a US territory

We knew this yesterday but the seal-clappers still ran victory laps posting “MUH STRAIT OPEN”

Maybe there wasn’t a ceasefire?
quote:Nope, they're exploiting the weakened state of Iran and their proxy groups to hit Hezbollah (and all the innocent Lebanese who live in that general area) very hard. They have no intention of stopping. I wouldn't if I was in their shoes.
Israel didn't cease any bombings. Clearly from news outlets and videos.
quote:Good question. I wouldn't open it if I was the leader of Iran, as that's my best bargaining chip.
Why would they open the strait?
quote:Oil is sold on a global market, so supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz raise oil prices globally, and that results in higher prices of most goods that have to be shipped as well as gasoline at the pump.
Why do we care? We get 1% of our oil from there?

It'sjust a matter of if a shipper wants to risk it.
If we want to talk semantics, the argument can be made that this is untrue. The strait being open needs to be defined. I’d imagine that definition doesn’t include barriers that may or may not exist and are only known by one party.
It’s just silly.
This is a de facto act of extortion. Treat it as such.

No shipping company ever needed to get Iran’s permission before we started bombing Iran.

No one is blockading it. It's just a matter of if a shipper wants to risk it.
No one wants to be the first. Someone should send an empty test ship to see if it gets attacked. If anything, it will draw out their remaining launchers if any are there.

You better care as we don’t need that oil but we need it in the market place so it doesn’t bid higher

Not all understand this. It’s why we are paying more even though the oil trapped in the Strait is not intended for us.
