Only US policy since we sent the Marines after the Barbary pirates, but since it wasn't George Washington, that's not conservative.

The Iranians are saying it's a security concern so they can ensure that ships avoid mines but they're also trying to grift off of it.

So my question is what idiot let them lay mines in this tiny arse area of ocean if they did this? This is not 1942. This is the era of satellite and drone warfare. It takes a ship to lay mines. Those ships should be seen and blown to bits before mission accomplished. We can locate speeding drug boats throughout the carribean but can monitor ships laying mines in the straight of hurmoz?

Yes. Despite everything you hear from the White House or people on this board, a long-term closure or partial closure of the Strait of Hormuz will lead to significant economic, fallout worldwide, including here in the United States.

You need to start paying us and Iran the troll toll, Sultan.

It doesn't "take a ship" to lay mines in the Straight of Hormuz.

Iran has used:

Small Fast-Attack Boats disguised as fishing boats.
Small Kilo-class subs.
Combat Divers ("Frogmen").
Land-Based Rockets.
Helicopters.

Like I said. We can track and blow up speed boats throughout the carribean. You are not laying mines in a canoe going mach 10. Blow the bastards up. Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

Maybe there wasn’t a ceasefire? Israel didn't cease any bombings. Clearly from news outlets and videos. Why would they open the strait? Why do we care? We get 1% of our oil from there?

Just some logical questions.

I'm still in awe Iran can claim islands that are in international waters. Kharj is 15-20 miles off the Iranian coast

So do we not have a claim to Hawaii?

A ton of nations possess islands that are more than 12 miles from shore.

I get what you're saying, but HI is in the middle of nowhere with no competing countries trying to lay claim.

Kharj is surrounded by other countries within a short distance.

The Persians have possessed it since before the Romans kicked out the Tarquins.

You panicans that care about Iran adhering to the deal they allegedly agreed to crack me up

It has to be the worst ceasefire agreement in history. Both sides have conflicting opinions on what was agreed upon and what wasn’t. I tend to believe the ceasefire agreement was very weak and unfinished. The bombings and restricting the strait afterwards proves it. But Trump used it as an excuse to extend the deadline once again as we expected.

It does appear that real talks about a long term deal are happening

That's a win IMO

Not really.

Like JD said, cease fires are messy.

A ceasefire is in place to iron out the deals. You stop shooting long enough to try and negotiate.

None of you have common sense.

We should care since that was the main thing Iran had to do or else.

Seems like a deal breaker to me

Who is going to fight it for them? The Emirati's are a tiny minority in their own country.
