The airlines already came out end of last week and called for this to end. I can only imagine the amount of money they are losing out on now that people are missing flights and cancelling.

So she discovered
She actually knew it, and she caught the mistake herself, but by that time we were an hour from Heathrow and the flight departed in an hour - no chance!

This^^ is a fact. TSA fails like 65% of all internal test.
I can't seem to find the article anymore, but something that stood out to me from about a decade ago was how the New Orleans airport brought in an ex-special forces guy to test the security at the airport...and he ended up simply hopping a fence and wandering the airport for half the day before being discovered.

Airline industry is too big to fail and the impact to other biz due to travel constraints is going to put the pressure on
Trump should ask the airlines and airports to pony up $$$ to pay ATC and TSA.

why doesn't airlines contract short term the ATControllers?
IF their business is suffering, i would think they could do this until govt is open.

We had a company meeting in Phoenix last week. My huge liberal boss let us go an hour early because TSA would be a madhouse because of the shutdown.
Not joking, from the time the Uber guy dropped me off, I’m guessing it was 8 minutes from sidewalk to gate. Might be one of the fastest and smoothest processes I’ve ever had.
Me and some other coworkers just went to the bar and took advantage of all the extra time, lol.
Thanks, boss

major airports have plenty of cash to pay these people....and they should
Yeah, but the smaller ones don't.
It's the same problem as hospitals. Large ones make hella bucks, but the small ones barely keep their doors open.
A lot of the insurance nonsense we tolerate IMO is for the purpose of keeping small hospitals open.
If we beat back that nonsense the large hospitals would still be around but the smaller ones wouldn't. So if you have a bad car accident in Montana, now the nearest open hospital might be 6 hours away.
Same problem with airports. You'd still be able to fly into Atlanta and Chicago and L.A. and New York, but you might be driving from there to somepace you used to be able to fly into directly.

No, the Dems want to take down Trump. They might demand his removal before they vote to open. They are fighting to the bitter end.

If healthcare for illegals is not the issue (as Dems claim), why don’t seven of them just cross the aisle and vote to end this thing?
I mean, if they’re being honest about it, there should be no problem, right?

The entire airline industry is heavily government subsidized. If airports had to pay for their own services fares would double overnight and the big carriers would pull out of all but the largest airports.
People who live near large airports would be ok, but everyone else would suffer immensely.
