What you are witnessing is the movement of the Overton window. Republicans will move left to accommodate the "reasonable left". Politics are still moving left.

Dems have been given notice their stances are too extreme but instead of going to the middle (like they should do), they're pulling hard to the left. You can never out-left a commie socialist dem.

I was a Democrat before 1990, now I'm considered a right wing extremist and my political views haven't really changed over the past 35 years.

Not even close to being the same party pre Slick Wille. Most old school Democrats prior to Slick Wille and NAFTA were voting strictly on blue collar vs white collar.

The left has been pulling the GOP left for 30 yrs or more. We have given in to so much socialism already and there is no fortitude by enough GOP to turn it around. Obamacare, SS, Medicaid/Medicare, welfare, etc etc.
