Leftist climate whores don't care about the facts. Their pitiful little feelings take center stage.

I always reply to the climate cultists with "Geologic temperature record". The end

More interesting data for Lafayette.

Meh, 20,000 years ago the continents were largely covered with gigantic glaciers. Not so much today. Clearly the trend in that time has been warming.
I am confused as to what point you think this has in regards to my OP

I dunno, but the climate prediction models issued by NOAA for the next two weeks indicates that Louisiana will literally bake, with little opportunity for rain showers.
As opposed to all those years where Louisiana has been wet and cool during the summer?

Their baseline is the problem with making the claim. The data used for the baseline is junk
We do know that that was the tail end of the Little Ice Age and not far removed from notable events like "a year without summer."
quote:
The year 1816 is known as the Year Without a Summer because of severe climate abnormalities that caused average global temperatures to decrease by 0.4–0.7 °C (0.7–1 °F).[1] Summer temperatures in Europe were the coldest of any on record between the years of 1766 and 2000.[2] This resulted in major food shortages across the Northern Hemisphere.[3]
While the instrumentation wasn't great, people going hungry from fail crops speaks loudly.

above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline
The LIA (Little Ice Age) is commonly considered to have lasted from ~1303 - ~1850. So that baseline is from the first handful of decades where temperature is increasing after a mini ice age...

And then there's this...

For the majority of the history of life on Earth, the global temperature has been much higher.
This is all to say that the timeframe they've used for their "baseline" is a poor one.

The problem with saying the last 8 years are the hottest on record

The 10-year average for the period 2013-2022 is estimated to be 1.14 [1.02 to 1.27] °C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial baseline.

I ran out of characters in my OP so I want to say if any of this is off then please educate me
Why you ask? Because you let them frame the argument. You’re operating under the same assumptions they are, which are laughably inadequate to discuss the situation.
Ask any of the climate crazies (or yourself for that matter) this question. What do you think will happen when it’s 20 degrees warmer on average?
If you can’t answer that question, you don’t know what the actual problem is.

Just cutting through all your attempts at trying to be a climate scientist and getting to the heart of the matter.
The climate is warming. It's been warming for 20,000 years.

Neat. Now show us a picture of what it looked like 20,000 years ago so we can compare.

It stayed cool spring weather longer this year than anytime I can remember in the past at least 10 years.
I agree, this past May was fairly comfortable. Warm, yes but it wasn’t hot and sticky like most Mays I remember. Even July is different in my opinion. Yes it is hot but it’s been dry.

So we need to change our way of life and pay taxes to stop it; or should we just adapt?

The problem is, is impossible really to say whether or not our “record” is anything at all but just statistical noise. I think that’s what you’re basically getting at.
It’s unfathomable to me that you would upend society over such a thing.

Exactly.
I believe in climate change, there was 3,000' of ice where I sit once.
The dramatic overreaction is more akin to "opportunism" than it is saving the planet. Just another chance for the far left to hijack the economy.

Probably a good idea for most people.

Good luck with that.

Can't go wrong with that. People need to realize that trying to insure a slab house in coastal Louisiana is just plain stupid.
