I have read a ton of books on WW1 & 2. Several well sourced guys come in with figures between 1 & 2 million (that they directly attribute to the Nazis). But yes, 2 million or 6 million, it is sort of a strange thing to haggle over. Another item that isn’t discussed as much is how (and why) they died. The answers to those questions do not just reveal that Hitler was psychotic but also very stupid.

1. It maters who wrote the book.
a. what they believed.
b. who they hate or admire
2. What is the press saying at the time.
a. who is writing the article
b. Is that person a friend or enemy of the person writing or his friends
3. What is the subject.
a. What is the general thought on the subject.


Right now, I have close to 200 books on Custer's Last Stand, in all the above count on what is being written.

You have hatred of players on both sides of the issue; the main difference today is the Sioux are looked on as victims, then as the enemy by most.
Today you have the Custer can do no wrong group and the Reno is the Devil.

One has to shift the sand of time and find out where the lines are drawn.

I may one day write a book on the battle.


The common theme since the 1800's is to downplay the number claimed in battles and history.

Today they think Custer ran into 1500 warriors, but Sitting bull said they had 5000 and Gall said 4000.

These are things that have to be worked out in history, always fighting the number game today no matter the subject in history.

Like the Black death that hit Europe and killed millions, at one point the number got very low on what the teachers taught in school, today the number has gone way back up; time and digs proved the numbers where very high.

Plus, comparing a modern way of cremating people in a coffin to how you would in Nazi Germany or any war is dumb. Of course you would burn multiple bodies at a time. This isn’t a fricking service in present day US.

Hitler liquidated around 12 million people in his camps.

Stalin made him look like a piker among mass murderers.

They didn’t elect Chancellor by popular vote at the time. He followed the established, constitutional path.
