I don't always seek out CNN's opinion on politics, but when I do it's from Jemele Hill.

A lot of people are upset that Trump supporters arent as fickle as they would like them to be. These people really think they just have to land the right insult or criticism on Trump and all his supporters will flee away from him, and they're frustrated when it never happens so they continue spiraling.

The same media who said Trump would never become president in 2016…

So many people apparently don't have the capacity to understand that algorigthms control everything they see and that they (as does everyone) exist in a somewhat involuntary echo chamber that constantly confirms our bias. If I believed everything that came across my feeds, I'd be convinced that girls wearing low-cut tops were the best golfers on the planet.

What form of media is this idiot employed in? Didn't ESPN fire her about 10 years ago?

...and why is she commenting on politics?

Great insight.

Makes you wonder about past narratives.

If Trump is popular, then make the case with numbers, approval data, and outcomes.

“Everyone who agrees is media-brainwashed” isn’t an argument. It’s a shortcut around having one.

but it is also difficult to believe given the success of the candidates

Primaries just take the temperature of the party itself. It’s not surprising that GOP voters would support the president’s preferred candidate. You won’t be able to measure approval of dems and independents that way though. True test will be the midterms.

“He won” and “he’s unpopular” can both be true. Multitasking is hard, I know.

Outcomes like winning an election?

By the very nature of politics any politician is going to have a large portion of the population who dont like them right off the batt no matter what and will never support them. The word "popular" doesnt even really apply. Trump can be both popular and have a large amount of people who hate him.

People should recognize that messages like this aren’t really aimed at persuading you in the moment. The concern is that narratives get recorded and preserved over time. This reminds me of the thread yesterday of every news anchor parroting the same old fear during covid about the non-vaxxed. I'm glad there's recorded evidence of which individuals caved with the full throttle idiocy of that crap.

Polarizing? Sure.

But “a lot of people love him” and “a lot of people dislike him” doesn’t make the word popular meaningless. It just makes the country divided.

Disney/ESPN

It's uncanny how often Disney happens to be lurking in the background regarding some of these idiots. Either in the past, like with the racist idiot Jemele Hill, or in the present with people like Ryan Clark, Jimmy Kimmel, or the brain-dead bimbos on The View (Disney/ABC).

Disney is Pure Evil.

What happened to the narrative that MAGA is dead and Trump is bleeding support?

Now that you've been proven wrong, you have to shift the goalposts to "of course his own party supports him. Just forget we said otherwise only a couple weeks ago. The true test will be if America-hating democrats support him. No, that doesn't make sense, but it's all I have left."

I don’t share this view.

1) the incumbent party generally loses seats

2) potus is not on the ballot

Midterms are local and about motivation. My read of the tea leaves is that the base of each party is a bit fatigued by the DC drama. It’s a long time until November; predictions in May…meh.

That said, the “Trump is unpopular” narrative is a good bit of wish casting from the party of no ideas.

Trump is very unpopular. He is very strong with his base - about 35% of the voters, but that’s about it. He’d probably get another 10% if he was on the ballot from people who would hold their nose and vote.
