Over the weekend, Peter Baker of The New York Times put some meat on these long-whitened bones. A veteran Texas pol named Ben Barnes told the NYT that he had accompanied the late John Connally, the former Texas governor who was operating then as the Republican he became, to the Middle East for the purposes of striking a deal with Iran to hold the hostages.

This was followed up by Iran - Conta

Luckily Ronnie had an old school G&C guy like Ollie to fall on the sword. Nobody today would probably do the same as too much self interest.

Guy thinks Carter was second to Ike as far as effectiveness.

Apparently you are too young to see the big picture and can not answer the question and must deflect.

Yea a crooked back door deal with a foreign country well in advance.

Claiming Reagan had more influence “well in advance” than the sitting president isn’t the win you seem to think it is. Confirm no one respected Carter, even if you believe the myth.

I lived through the Carter years as an adult. Until Biden came along to challenge him, he was the worst president I could imagine, although now I think Johnson's policies have dropped him into that spot. He essentially said we had to surrender on energy when the arabs embargoed us and he could not come up with a way to reduce either the inflation or the interest rates. Interest rates stayed high for years after his term, and the economy only slowly got better. He was probably very smart, but was not a good leader. He had no real answers for the problems he faced.

The people who lived at the time of Noah and the people of Sodom and Gomorrah would tell you if they could that God is also a God of judgement.
Liberal are ignorant when it comes to the Bible.

Jesus said, “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set[a] a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it. (Matt.10:34-39)

It has come out since that Regan delayed it till after the election so he could ensure the win. This was the lead in to the Iran Contra scandal.

the Iranian embassy hostages had nothing to do with iran contra you imbecile. that reagan somehow cut a deal with iran delaying the hostage release has been alleged but has never been close to being proven that makes you a worthless liar.

i was in high school during the carter years and started college in 1979. the thing that york left out of his piece was the 15 days prior to the malaise speech carter disappeared he went to camp david, brought in people from all walks of life asking them what he should do. there were rumors swirling that he was on the verge of a nervous break down.

i have no doubt that carter thought he was one of the smartest men to ever be president, that makes two of you.

I met Carter in Plains, Ga. I use to think that he was a good man.

The reality is he supported every evil Dem policy and voted for them.all right up to the end.

He was an awful president. I remember what it was like.

in spite of the humble act which truly was an act he was one evil egotistical son of a bitch.

He had absolutely zero concern for the plight of the American citizen.

I turned 20 in 1977. I clearly remember he was roundly criticized by all. I remember the cry of the day was “frick Carter” just like frick Joe Biden is today.

He was hated.

And it was pervasive. The more I think about it the worse I remember it being.

The gas lines were unbelievable. He caused that. it was almost like Covid was today, so yeah,

frick Carter.

Carter may have gotten the hostages out earlier but Regan went behind the scenes
November 1979 through January 20 1981 was the most impotent time for America since it's rise to a superpower and that was ALL on the man from Plains, GA. What he had in smarts he sorely lacked in vision, leadership and political and business acumen. If his Reagan was able to manipulate it "behind the scenes" while he was at times trailing in the polls - that right there puts an exclamation point on his impotency of leadership as president. The fact that he was smart and in your opinion the only true christian matters not - bottom line it was one of the most failed terms in our history - fortunately it does not have the lasting legacy of LBJ does or the one of Biden will have.

Myth is not fact

I believe in facts and Ronnie was a good face man that gave the masse4s what they were told they wanted. Sometimes a real leader has to take the pain to really lead, not just pander top the public.
