Its not even just generals. I know plenty of former enlisted who retire, collect 100% disability and get a do nothing DOD or contractor position making $100k+ per year on top of their retirement and disability payments. A lot of people just use the military to leach money from the government and these are the kind of people who cry and complain whenever they have to actually do anything remotely "military" related. They just want to sit at a desk all day and collect government money and benefits.

As a regular civilian I was extremely embarrassed at what I saw during that birthday parade. Fat, sloppy troops in wrinkled uniforms. Soldiers wearing Alice gear that was improperly assembled. Soldiers that couldn’t keep in step while marching. I can’t believe that a senior non commissioned officer allowed troops to go out in front of the commander in chief like that. This is long overdue I’m glad we have Pete Hegseth there I voted for this. Time to take our military back.

Everyone of those frickers have 10x the medals Ike and Patton had combined.

All those two did was win wwii.

They don’t like Pete because Pete called them fat, lazy slobs to their faces.

Yes. I worked with ex military people and many are not self starters. They are so use to being told what to do through orders. In the private sector you have to be a self starter to be successful. See something that needs to be done then do it. Don't wait to be told.

As a retired veteran and a father who has a son serving in the Air Force, this makes me so happy!! I hated it when he was serving under “autopen” and all those below standard, fat sub-leaders….at least my son will be held to high standards and be properly trained and equipped to do his mission while serving with other qualified troops!

Everyone puts in a “lifetime” of work if you aren’t on welfare. That doesn’t make you special. Looking. At Milley and Mattis, most of these generals are liberal pricks.

Most of the officer level (field-level and above) are woke and are not liking this. Especially those in the Navy, AF and SF.

His US awards (according to his library):

Distinguished Service Medal-Army (with Oak Leaf Clusters)
DSM (October 7, 1922)
1st OLC (September 7, 1943)
2nd OLC (July 13, 1945)
3rd OLC (February 7, 1948)
4th OLC (June 2, 1952)
Distinguished Service Medal-Navy (June 25, 1947)
Legion of Merit, Legionnaire Class (November 25, 1943)
Mexican Border Service Medal (July 9, 1918)
Victory Medal, WWI (April 9, 1919)
American Defense Service Medal (April 2, 1947)
European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 9 stars (July 22, 1947)
Victory Medal, WWII (April 2, 1947)
Army of Occupation Medal-Germany (April 2, 1947)

That is a total of 13. Not a ton.

Yep, even in the USMC where it's difficult af to get medals even if you deploy a lot, you should have a triple row by year 5 or 6.

Makes me so happy that my son will come up as an officer under this administration. He is currently at a service academy and has been appalled by some of his fellow students.
His mentor through highschool is a retired marine colonel that served in marine force recon and is the epitome of what hegseth is preaching. The military’s number one job is to be the most lethal fighting force on the planet not some social experiment.

Eisenhower just didn’t show off. The guy earned many medals. (One of the most decorated men in history. )

That's pretty good for the era he served in, my grandfather and great-grandfather were career Army cavalry officers and neither had many ribbons. Also, the Army DSM is very high on the order of merit and he was awarded 5 of them plus a Navy one. Same with a LoM. Quality over quantity mattered back then.

It’s good for any era except the modern one. The awards systems have become participation trophies a lot of the time.

Hell, my son has combat air medal and after his air crew got the award another company (who weren’t even on that deployment) bitched that they should have one because they “contributed”. They ended up getting the award.

Their contribution? My son’s company that deployed took two of the other company’s Blackhawks with them. Their Blackhawks were on the mission so they got a fricken award.
