Can anyone let me know when the weekly catechism meeting is over? I only came for the coffee and donuts.

This whole discussion reads like a backdoor attempt to make the case that it’s not equitable for some people to accumulate more wealth and assets than they “need” and then pass those on to their heirs rather than those assets being used for the “greater good”.

That’s my take…but I may be wrong.

I think it's more basic than that. She just wants everyone to admit that property rights are made up in a societal construct. Which they largely are, but she also seems to be fighting why, even if they are made up in a societal construct, they are very important to the way that we are currently existing.

It's following the same pattern of advancement that I described earlier, but the leftists have gotten to a point where they think that if they can use their own flowery language to describe property rights, that society will continue to function properly without those property rights. It's a classic logical leap that you see with leftism that ignores the reality and underlying basis for why these social constructs are formed. They think that they can just label them a social construct and then pretend that we could just remove them because they're not real, which ignores why the social construct was created in the first place and how it impacts our standard of living and the state/advancement of society today.

*ETA: that's why countering this with an alternative version of non-impactful flowery language (natural rights) isn't productive or effective, rhetorically. It's just making the same type of argument with its own dismissive construct-label.

Woah woah, you can only earn money (or use your husband's) because your father gave you the privilege of White Privilege.

But seriously you aren’t getting a dollar from his estate, thats how second wives work. I know several people who never got anything even when it was in the will.

No, you're probably right. The premise ties to the classical Marxist holding: "From each according to his ability. To each according to his need." It's simply couched in different terms here.

Do you work with really smart people who make you feel dumb, so you log in here to argue with morons all day, so you feel smarter, and feel better about yourself?

I really don’t see any other benefit for you since you disagree with pretty much everything, and I don’t imagine you as the kind of guy to ever be like, “hmm, never saw it that way, thanks” no matter how wrong you are. I can imagine it’s held you back quite a bit in life.

Just curious. You’d probably be better off signing out for a while, and going to therapy a few times a week. I’m actually not trying to be mean here.

Feel free to show me the evidence that Sumer had any idea of the existence of the current Bible or Judaism.

Even assuming your statement to be correct. Sumer didn't seem to be aware of "God's word" when they formed their society, laws, etc.

No

Really smart people think I'm really smart. Since I've largely had a friend group of those types since age 4-5, why would I conceptualize myself as dumb given that paradigm?

Dumb people are the ones who think I'm not smart.

It's the Dunning-Kruger Effect.

You picked the wrong thread for this strawman.

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world ...

Then again, irony is ironic ....

That's what happened, you know it, and your reaction to my question pretty well confirms that it happened.

You can post a false story as many times as you want. The volume won't change its veracity.

Is this because I didn't do wut and did "What"?

So then "justice," in the manner which you are using the term, actually pertains not to justice, but rather to a societal response to an injustice

It seems that the existence of a concept (in a meaningful sense) depends on agreement of what that concept is. It’s like language in that it only has meaning if people agree on what it means.

What you are saying make sense but it also kind of contradicts common sense. Maybe I need to think more about this before trying to articulate anything.

I don’t want everyone to admit anything fwiw. People can think whatever they want.

I’m looking for a compelling argument that justifies their origination beyond ego and “why shouldn’t I get to determine who gets or what happens to my stuff when I die?” which is ultimately just ego anyway

Who in your estimation should then get to make that determination if not the owner?

I’ve asked a couple times now and it seems you are avoiding having to answer for some reason?
