Got this email from my property manager. We get similar messages a couple of times a month. Keep in mind I live in a fairly nice part of town where rents are no less than $1,800 per month even for a 1 bedroom.

"Attention Residents:

Both package lockers were vandalized last night between the hours of 1 AM- 2:30 AM. The police were notified; please reach out to your package carrier for replacement packages. Ownership has approved our new camera system with alarm monitoring and our east fence replacement behind the building. This will be installed shortly.

Crime has risen everywhere, please be careful and aware of your surroundings and contact the authorities if you see anything or anyone suspicious.

Management"

It's like defunding the police leads to more crime or something. Are there any studies out there on this?

Prayers sent. Everyone living in a metro area will soon be living like that.

Just look at it as an unplanned donation, to a crackhead.

$1,800/month for a 1-bedroom?

That's almost as much as my mortgage for my 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house in Thuston.

People here are afraid to report crimes, especially against the homeless because they are afraid of what the police might do to them. I don't even know how to respond when I hear that stuff. I am not just talking about petty theft either. There are times when whether mentally ill/addicts throw rocks through windows and threaten people with harm and they still dont want to report them.

I moved here 5 years ago and it wasn't nearly this bad. I have created a life and career here since, but its getting harder to see myself staying.

Haha. We sold apartments in California for this reason. I am tired of dealing with their bullshite.

We were banking $2.50/sf per month in rent on these units in the complex and still knew liquidating and reinvesting elsewhere was best.

I hear ya. I'm just giving you a hard time. I live outside of Nashville and the utes have been coming out to the country to commit crimes. Back in February I had my truck broken into (it was locked, they smashed the window) in my own driveway and my gun stolen.

Sounds like you should check your Privilege for being able to live in such luxury... it’s their form of reperations haven’t you heard

I’m kidding of course. That is garbage and a shame that it’s just acknowledged and accepted up there

What do you mean? What might the police do?

I'm see people on NextDoor post about their cars being broken into and other crimes. Sometimes they even have video that shows the perp. But if you say "call the police," some say they are afraid to do so because the police are so "mean."

Correct. They are afraid of what harm "would likely come" to the aggressive homeless person if the police get a hold of them.
