Talking points starting to get out:

1. It's not so unbelievable, who hasn't had their computer crash on them?

2. Any pattern of corruption that would be in the 2009-2011 emails would show up in emails from 2011 and on as well.

If this is the best they can come up with...

for those who are attempting to muster a defense of this who are (I presume) Democrats, what would you be saying if it was a GOP administration and predominantly left-leaning groups that the IRS had allegedly targeted and then when called upon to produce items that could be material evidence, the IRS responded with an adult variation of the old "the dog ate my homework" excuse? If you have any intellectual integrity you either find this indefensible, no matter who's in power, or at least own the fact that your opinion on the issue is completely based on which "team" you support.

This is exactly what it is and it's indefensible.

This is going to be the lamest excuse of all.

Should've been more tech savvy.

I hadn't even thought about the trouble ticket that had to have been created on this. Mad props to Sharyl

Somehow the guys and girls who are soooo much smarter than the rest of us always seem to plead either ignorance or incompetence. Every damn time.

And the liberal geniuses on here that always talk down to us simpletons will convince us that their excuses of ignorance are plausible.

That one of the biggest frauds ever was perpetrated upon the American people.

But, they were powerless to do anything about it because of white guilt.

It's a shame that there apparently isn't a current, conservative equivalent of Woodward-Bernstein that could get to the bottom of this.

More than anything else the Obama Administration has concocted, this feels very Nixonian and Watergate-esque.

Unfortunately, that would require a Deep Throat. And the people this administration put in charge are complete scumbags who were hired because they are morally bankrupt.

No one died because of Watergate.

Barack Obama is a piece of shite with blood on his hands and needs to be impeached.

As much as I agree with this sentiment, unfortunately it's not going to happen.

Will it even be mentioned on this morning's new's shows? Will the press even report this issue beyond what it has already done?

Are there any true freedom loving Americans left that will take some sort of action?

Will you for example take 5 minutes to write or call an elected official?

I will.

As a former exchange administrator for a school we were required by law to have 5 years of email retention that was punishable if I could not reproduce.

So our federal government has less standards than a 10k enrollment school?

Bull spit.
