You may like driving cars that Imlky that you relax your throat on a daily basis... but most heterosexuals do not subscribe to your world view.

He wants it forced, like all leftists. They can't imagine that people would want to do anything but live in an apartment clustered in a city where you can use your phone to get others to-do anything you need.

Some of us remember that Bill Clinton wanted a very similar BTU tax towards the beginning of his first term, probably with strong backing from Gore.

It's one of the items that triggered the 1994 GOP takeover of Congress.

Is it tyranny if it is market driven? Because the writing is on the wall.

Nancy, you do realize there are people who like to do things for themselves which requires a truck, right? Trucks are the top selling vehicles in the US. They won't be replaced by electric matchboxes in 30 years if it's left up to the market.

In economic terms there is zero difference between this and a straight carbon tax like what France has. And the consumption impact (and pissed off consumer group) is more or less identical.

And this is precisely why the US media is not running the French riots on the front pages.

So, artificially increasing the price of fuel through government regulation is "market driven" in your simple mind?

There will still be a need for trucks and SUVs. A Prius isn't exactly a functional vehicle for a family of 5. I have zero desire to drive a small car.

Wonder how popular trucks will be when no one can afford the auto insurance

Why would insurance be cost prohibitive?
