The fatal flaw in the left's "gotcha" narrative as to the Trump-Cohen tape

The recording had already been reviewed by the Court and had been determined to be a privileged communication.
It was only because Trump had waived the privilege as to the tape (and the contents) that it could be released.
So, why is that important?
Because communications regarding future illegal conduct IS NOT PROTECTED BY PRIVILEGE. In fact, there is an express exemption of such communications from the attorney-client privilege rules.
Thus, by finding the communication was privileged (necessitating a waiver), the Court has already made a determination that there is nothing illegal being discussed.
Sorry. Better luck next time.

They think the fact that Trump hit this dime piece when he was 60 is some great shame

Bottom lines: Trump loves the "P", well duh and good, look at his wives. Trump took care of the gals. Good! Trump paid and didn't molest as some other presidents have. Excellent. Trump loves his family and tried to protect them. Wonderful. Trump picks up support. Spectacular!

Thanks. There is nothing illegal about setting up a payment arrangement. The action of executing the payment........mission control...we have a problem.

Meanwhile, latest polls show the overwhelming two most important issues to Americans, the economy and illegals.
Trump: GDP at 4%, which on an annualized basis would be a trillion friggin dollars, lowest unemployment in decades, and real wages finally growing again. And once again we are finally enforcing our borders.
Dems: Crumbs, increased tax plan, and open borders for everyone, criminals, terrorists included.
Me thinks Trump....and America wins this one biggly.

There is NOTHING illegal about the whole thing, the sex, the payment discussion OR the payment if it had been made.
Unless Cohen wrote a check from the MAGA campaign (He Didn't) then there is Absolutely no there, there.

Yeah. I didn’t get the point that somehow paying a tabloid for rights to a story would be illegal in any way other than using campaign funds. Even THEN, I’d guess it was a campaign fund report rule breaking and not really a huge deal.
This is silliness

It's potentially not just a reporting issue but a more flagrant violation of the sort John Edwards was tried criminally for. The difficulty with these cases (and the reason John Edwards wasn't convicted) is that it can be difficult to prove a payment was meant to influence an election. In the case of Edwards his mistress was also paid off by a third party on a candidate's behalf but the payment was made about 9 or 10 months before the election so it didn't reach the criminal standard for conviction. This AMI payment is temporally closer to an election so may be more of an issue.

Twelve audio tapes recorded by Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, have been turned over to federal prosecutors.
The special master overseeing the privilege review of items seized in FBI raids of Cohen’s home, office and hotel room in April said in a court filing Monday that the tapes were given to federal prosecutors in Manhattan after parties withdrew their designations of privilege, report the New York Times, Politico, the Associated Pressand Reuters.

The standard for what people find interesting has little to do with whether someone will go to prison. I guess the Trumpists are so obsessed with the possibility of Trump going to prison that this has become your yardstick, but for the rest of the people, what they find interesting is much broader.

Exactly. For instance, why lie when you know your base doesn't care about the facts? Oh it's because you want to hide that you're a sleaze and that this is the MO of how you do business. Which gives the stormy daniels case more credibility

I grant that point. And, Trump is flawed in the character department. He is brash. All of that makes his opponents more invigorated, too.
I agree it is interesting. I just find the idea that it is a big deal BEYOND that to be silliness.
Again, I get why his detractors point this out and don’t blame them. I think their habit of overplaying the issue is to the detriment of their goal.
The Russia press conference is an example. If it was said to be “stupid” or “embarrassing “, I think I would have agreed. But, the “TREASON!!” horse shite moved me to the other side and to defend him.

Trump loves pussy. Trump pays for pussy. Wives, girl friends, pro's. Look around you, it's a world wide phenom. Look in the mirror, unless you substitute dick it's going on in your life. Further, married fathers lie when caught. We are taught that by our older brothers and stuff at an early age.
People can do with their money whatever they like for the most part. There is a rule against using verified contributed campaign funds for personal use. Which is broken daily and it is a minor item unless one drains a fund and goes to Belize and stays. Hill/Bill set the standard. There is no indication at this point that Trump was buying pussy out of a campaign account. A little entertainment along the way. BTW, not one person who voted for Donald J Trump doubted that he was tapping world championship pussy, some of it at home. Unlike the previous president where some serious doubt crept in.

This proves yet again that Trump is an unhinged, serial liar to all of us. He will not be prosecuted on this, but why don’t you care that he just does not tell the truth on anything. His low life character is what the tape proves such as f....... around on Melania with an infant son and then misleading everybody as he does on everything.
