That didn't take long...

From: LSU Office of the President
Subject: Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity Goals and Accomplishments

Dear LSU community,

As we have worked to make our campus a more inclusive, equitable, and diverse place for everyone in our LSU Family, we have always made it clear that our actions must speak louder than our words.

Today, I want to share with you an overview of key actions and accomplishments resulting thus far from the work of nine sub-committees that were formed at our Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity Leadership Retreat on July 1, 2020.

These subcommittees are comprised of LSU faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and their work has focused on bringing to fruition the action items in our Diversity & Inclusion Roadmap relating to faculty, staff, and student health and wellness, academics, recruiting, community building, communications, and physical environment. Please take some time to review their actions and accomplishments here: lsu.edu/together/docs/diversity-roadmap-status.pdf.

Executive Vice President & Provost Stacia Haynie, Vice Provost for Diversity and Chief Diversity Officer Dereck Rovaris, Interim Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer Donna Torres, and I have met several times with each sub-committee in recent months to review their progress and discuss next steps. This week we are all coming back together for another Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity Retreat to examine the 2020 accomplishments and 2021 goals.

We are proud of all that they have achieved thus far, and their work is just getting started. To discuss this great work, you are invited to the Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity Forum on Wednesday, Feb. 3, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. This Zoom webinar will be an opportunity for you to hear from the subcommittees about their findings and accomplishments as well as a Q&A session.

Though much has been done, there is still much to do. We look forward to discussing and working with you on making LSU a more inclusive, diverse, and equity environment for years to come.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and talk to you soon!

Sincerely,

Tom Galligan
LSU Interim President and Professor of Law

Good.

I hope they march all the white kids through campus in chains to atone for the sins of their ancestors.

So let me get this straight, Student A studies hard, goes to class, does homework, is driven and follows the rules.

Student B stays up drinking, cuts class, doesn't do homework, lazy, breaks all the rules.

They both had the same opportunity, but one excelled the other failed. Yet the outcome should be equal?

Equal opportunity does not result in equal outcomes because we deal with individuals. Everyone is different. Different skills, different characters, different intelligence, different work habits. You will have different outcomes.

Its like legislating that night become day, repealing the law of gravity. It doesn't make it happen. So what they are really saying is that they will take things away from the successful and give to the unsuccessful. Soviet Union tried that. They made everyone unsuccessful.

To be fair, why condition young adults for the real world when you can condition them for a fantasy world instead?

What bothers me the most about all of this is use of the word "equity". It has been adopted and substituted for the term "equality" by the left because it sounds more academic and intelligent. Equity traditionally has meant freedom from bias or favoritism, as in "equitable treatment under the law". But now it is being bastardized to mean "favoritism or bias in order to achieve an equal opportunity". Its literally the exact opposite of the actual meaning of the word. Sorry for digressing, back on topic.

Word salad SJW style. I sense more useless "studies" programs incoming. The alumni association needs to organize a purge.

Dear Mr. LSU President,

I want my equity, too. Sure, I don't live in Louisiana, and did not attend LSU, but I'm a US taxpayer. And as such, I help fund making below-market-rate loans to students attending your school through the Direct Loan Program.

When higher education was initially established in the US, it was typically done by the church, in conjunction with generous donors. Many universities were founded by religious families who donated their own wealth for the betterment of society. They were established to teach the truth, and to add value to society by producing better citizens. The term "university" was coined to mean "unity from diversity" - that diverse people could seek the truth. That is no longer the case.

Apparently, your institution no longer teaches your students logic or reason, and to increase tuition, you, like other universities, shuffle kids who cannot successfully handle traditional courses off into subjective tracts like your "Women's Gender & Sexual Studies" program. When those students graduate and cannot find a job, we, the taxpayers, fund their student loan defaults. We bear the risk of their not finding a job that can support the student loans they took out to get that worthless degree.

You should bear the cost. And it is interesting that you raised "equity" as a factor in deciding LSU policy. Perhaps I missed this , but for the sake of "equity", have you reduced your salary in order to help pay for this "equity"? No, of course you haven't. Someone else, but not you, will pay for that "equity" and the worthless products you produce.

Only 26% of Americans can name the three branches of government, much less tell you what function these branches are traditionally supposed to perform. That's on you.

While you're "proud of all that they have achieved thus far", your staff are producing the dumbest students America has ever produced in the history of American higher education. If that's something of which you're proud, you should resign, or at least donate 90% of your salary to paying tuition for your victims instead of sending the bill for your failures to taxpayers.

Thanks,
Joe Taxpayer

I had Professor Haynie for several classes when she was new to teaching. I liked her and thought she was fair. Couldn't tell you if that's her style today. She seems to be very political now.

Until they get rid of and disavow these RACIST and clearly f*cking UNCONSTITUTIONAL offices, and until that racist no good piece of yankee FILTH Galligan is shown the door, I will never donate another f*cking dime to LSU.

I've loved LSU my entire life. I don't ever remember not loving LSU and not wanting to attend and graduate from LSU.

But now, F*CK LSU!

This reminds me of this old joke

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and was very much in favor of the redistribution of wealth.

She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.

One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the addition of more government welfare programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.

Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn’t even have time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.

Her father listened and then asked, “How is your friend Audrey doing?” She replied, “Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She’s always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn’t even show up for classes because she’s too hung over.”

Her wise father asked his daughter, “Why don’t you go to the Dean’s office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.”

The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back, “That wouldn’t be fair! I have worked really hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!”

The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, “Welcome to the Republican party.”

I graduated from LSU. One day I’m at a bar watching the LSU game. I just sat there watching and a random person got on my arse for not cheering for them. I politely told him that I went there, paid them, and that it was a business transaction. Told him I’m not obligate to cheer for them because I went there. He couldn’t comprehend that. I hope his opinion has changed.
