Trump is winning because he doesn't play identity politics. And here you are espousing identity politics.

Basically the OP just rehashed 2016 politics all over again and thinks it's going to defeat Trump in 2020 when he already beat them.
I think we’re underestimating how horrible a candidate Clinton was. Trump was lucky to have her as an opponent.

Asians are not a monolithic demographic. The different ethnic groups tend not to like the other ethnic groups very much, and Indians take it a step further and tend not to like each other. Jindal got essentially zero support from other Indians in his abortive presidential campaign. Haley may or may not fit into the same category as Jindal, but it's something to watch.
Good point.

Would support Haley in 2024, not 2020

She would be far down my list of preferred nominees for the GOP.

However, I would likely support her over whatever monstrosity the Democrats are likely to come up with at that point.

The main impetus for her as a choice, as you've said, is that she is 'a woman of color'.
I see what you mean and why my post looks that way, but I take it as a given that she’ll be a better President than Trump, and I present her identity as a bonus that kills the Democrats’ habit of resorting to identity politics. With Haley as a candidate, they can’t attack Republicans for what they like to see as racism or sexism. They would actually have to talk about actual issues, which, as a person who votes Republican, I really really really would like to see Democrats have to do this.

That's one hell of an assumption. I understand what you mean, though.

Haley was a proven governor and UN ambassador. She’s always been pretty solid on conservative ideals and supports the military. She’s as good a candidate as any that ran before and comes across better than some of my preferred choices...Cruz, Lee and Paul.

However it should not be until Trump decides to move on ...until then he’s the guy. He’s pulling never Trumpers into the fold slowly but surely.

This would be true if I were callin for GOP to campaign on the WoC thing, but I ain’t. My point is that with her as a candidate, identity politics are taken off the table, which would be a good thing.

There are so many black conservatives that prove precisely how wrong and ignorant you are.

I can’t think of more than six or seven of them who have been nominated by the GOP as a Presidential candidate, though ;)

Oh boy.

You still have a lot to learn.

I really hope you are a idealistic, naive young teenager who is just getting his feet wet in politics. If you’re an older person this is just sad.

I think you are an older NeverTrumper.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Haley couldn't bear 1/100 of the pressure that Trump can; She'd fold and compromise in a NY second, and believe that 'compromise' was a virtue. Same thing the RINOs have been doing for years now.

What does Trump have to do to win some of you people over...walk on water?

Also, could she become VP?

He didn't beat just Clinton.

He also beat the establishment in both parties, the mainstream media pushing all sorts of lies about him, many suburb republicans staying home, had the complete lack of a clearly defined campaign structure and had to rely on bare bones RNC.

Trump will have the support of the GOPe and RNC and will have a well funded, well staffed and well equipped campaign and he will have the support of 95-97% of the GOP electorate.
