Social media users are calling to ban the iconic 1970s hit film 'Grease', condemning it for being "sexist", "homophobic", and "s-ut-shaming".

A Boxing Day viewing of the film on BBC1 sparked outrage online, with many Twitter users calling the film out-dated.

Critics on Twitter complained about the lyric, "Did she put up a fight?" in the song Summer Nights, when Danny talks about 'hooking up' with Sandy.

Others shared disapproval about Sandy's friend Rizzo, who was s-ut-shamed for having unprotected sex.

The drive-in scene where Sandy and Danny watch a movie together was criticised for being "rapey", one user saying that it "didn't age well".

The lack of LGBTQ+ representation and diversity in the cast angered others.

quote:

But many came to defend the musical, calling "woke" critics over-sensitive "snowflakes".

"Please don't ban #Grease. I know all the words and I've still got a crush on #DannyZuko," one user wrote.

A third wrote: "I really can't believe the #snowflakes want to ban #grease. #w-f"

The more the Dems try to ban radio shows, tv shows, offensive speech and now movies and the GOP does nothing similar, I wonder why so many posters here keep saying the two parties are the same.

Or it’s a great demonstration for young women that they can resist a boys advances?

Why are we intent on creating victims where none exist??!

It’s a movie set in the early 60s and made in the late 70s. Of course it’s not going to meet their modern societal standards.

Don't like the movie? Don't watch the movie.

Think the movie isn't up to your standards? Remake the movie to your taste.

Now. Shut the hell up.

Hell I’m listening to an Office podcast and they comment all the time on early Michael Scott being inappropriate. Diversity Day would never air on network tv right now. BJ Novak would be cancelled.

Back in the good ole days when you could just beat the shite out of someone for talking a bunch of dumb shite and not get charged with a hate crime things like this didn't happen.

Maybe there's a correlation?

Great, now I have Greased Lightnin' stuck in my head, except it's being sung by Andrew Dice Clay. Thanks OP.

What, freedom of choice? We can't have that crap. Someone might watch it accidentally, take something out of context, and get all butthurt about it. We can't have that.
