The armorer from the Rust movie set murder.

This was the person in charge of guns and ammo on the set...
Did they diversity hire for the person in charge of the deadly weapons?

No, not a diversity hire. Her father was a well-known Hollywood armorer. They hired her because she was cheap. She had very little experience but claimed her father trained her. That apparently was good enough for the producers (Alec) who didn't want to spend the money required for an experienced armorer.

Make sense this was supposedly only her 2nd job.
I still cant believe they had functioning guns and real ammo on set at the same time.

I know whenever I’m looking to hire someone for a life and death type job (like a surgeon), I always look at their father’s resume and a cheap price.

I am a Glock armorer and have also been a Sig amorer. I can promise you, that is not the type of person that shows up at legit armorers classes.
