You guys keep acting like WW2 or Vietnam is a possibility here when it’s not. In desert storm we lost 382 people, we lose between 800-900 people on American soil every year due to accidents and things like that. You’re just repeating silly talking points. It’s like both sides watch their respective propaganda networks then repeat the talking points to each other on the board. It’s really pathetic.

Neither you nor me nor any of us “commit” our sons to the military for anything. They’re adults who choose to do so, presumably after conferring with their families and others from whom they derive advice and counsel, and furthermore presumably have considered the spots around the globe in present day geopolitics where IF they were to experience live action or a war, that’s where it would most likely occur. And from there contemplate and decide whether they (again with counsel and support from loved ones etc) would be able to conscientiously accept orders under those circumstances. Many of us believe those good people are plenty intelligent enough to make that decision for themselves. Obviously some amongst us think otherwise.
Or maybe you have a setup wherein you are able to forbid an adult son or daughter from joining the military because of your own personal politics. But I guess just be aware that not everyone is like you.
