There should be a distinction between positive cases and new cases. People who test positive more than once shouldn't be counted as a new case as the CDC and media convey with their reporting.

Do you think we should shutdown again? Yes or no?

Harris County has had overcrowded hospitals for about a month and yet deaths have hovered around 340-400 for that entire time.
It’s obvious they were backlogged with elective procedures and were likely admitting Covid patients they probably should have not admitted.

There was a doctoring lady from TX on the radio the other day saying this exact thing. She said if you check into a hospital for a scheduled event like a c-section and test positive, then you are counted as a covid patient.

600 beds Covid related 762 non-Covid.
That’s not a complete picture, IMO. But it does definitely indicate that Covid cases are affecting hospital census.

Does he even live in Texas? Or is he very concerned from another state?

My friend’s daughter works in maternity at a big hospital in St. Louis. She said around 10% of expectant moms are testing positive during their pregnancy and almost all are asymptomatic. When they come in to deliver, they’ll be counted as Covid patients.

ICU beds are filling. Texas Med center reports 1,362 beds filled, 360 of those were last week. 250 the week before and steady growth for several weeks.
People aren’t checking into ICU’s to score political points. It’s because there’s a highly contagious, potentially deadly virus going around.
Look at ICU hospitalizations.
I read this.
Then I saw who posted it.

Absolutely. The Texas Medical Center after weeks of attention seeking backtracked the day after Abbott’s new orders cutting elective procedures re. the data.

If you test positive are you not a Corona patient?
Hospitals are testing near everyone admitted. They are pre screening people before elective procedures (which are now held). Anyone admitted for anything is getting a nasal swab. Corona is new but swabbing is not. MRSA, Influenza have been swabbed for for some time now.
They are testing for Corona to wear PPE and try to isolate those patients. The LAST thing a hospital wants is the bad press of a nursing home like Corona outbreak within the hospital.
The reality slaps you in the face if you work in it. This is summer. Every year I have ever worked, summer is the lull period for a hospital. A packed hospiatl and ER with 40+ hour wait times for a bed is not the normal during the summer. It is during flu season and winter. I can only speak to the Houston area. It is not a normal summer by any means.

And only 600 of the 1,362 beds are classified as Covid ICU cases and of those 600 how many have other underlying conditions that actually put them in the ICU?
That data points to Covid. It being the great killer Houston is trying to paint it as.

It’s not remotely the danger Houston politicians are trying to paint. And not one media outlet is taking Hidalgo to task for shutting down the triage hospital she put eight figure towards.

You drinking this morning? They ridiculed her the entire time. Not a patient was treated there. I am not a big "Dora" fan, but public pressure shut it down. It was closed and now we could use it. Every step taken in Texas has been a step in shite.

It isn’t politicians trying to paint a picture. This a public health crisis because the state didn’t manage to control the spread when it had the chance. The Governor has admitted as much.
So no - there is no need to politicize this issue when hospitals are reaching capacity. The curve is not flattened now, and at some locations the inflow is too great, and patients are waiting 24 hours to get a bed somewhere.
Can’t hide the facts and try to manipulate the numbers when everyone already knows that the cases have skyrocketed - and the evidence is plain to see in the hospitalizations.

Why? Would anyone believe any statement from the CDC?
After all, they paid for the design and research in the Wuhan Level 4 facility.
Fauci signed the check.
These over priced Bureaucrats, knew the source of the bat population after the SARS outbreak. They knew of the reports from inspections by the US Embassy exactly how poor the safety regulations and lack of experienced Lab assistants were in that lab. And these guys handed them the checkbook.
Anyone that has their hands elbow deep in the ink well, should have zero opinion stated publically.
