A top Texas official on Wednesday said he would push for state legislators to pass a bill that would require events receiving public funding to play the national anthem.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, a Republican who also serves as president of the state Senate, announced the effort after one of the state’s professional basketball teams revealed it stopped playing the anthem before games, breaking with an American tradition.

The act is known as the Star-Spangled Protection Act, or Senate Bill 4.

Republicans hold a 5 vote majority in the upper chamber and a 16 seat majority in the lower chamber.

Anyone voting against that should immediately lose their seat, though we know they won't.

This is stupid....so a POS Chiner controlled NBA owner didn't want to play the Natty Anthem so the Lt Gov wanted to out-retard him......just stop giving the NBA any fricking money....problem solved. You can't legislate every stupid arse thing people do.

I’m gonna have to roll with Wtodd on this. We’re sort of stooping to their authoritarian levels.

I want them to do it under their own willpower. I don’t like the govt. forcing them to do it. It’s no better than China at that point.

Why should every stupid arse thing have to result in Fed or state enacting some piece of legislation that is essentially pandering for votes. MC is a dumbfrick….want to get back at him? Hit his wallet.

It can better be handled by the public - if it’s that important enough issue to them, don’t watch the games. It is to me; I agree with the spirit of the bill, just not throwing another dumb arse law on the books

It is weak arse pusses like you, and the rest of the screen controlled youth robots, that have allowed these frickers to take over this country. Go change your tampon. The adults have work to do to clean up your woke mess.
