Tesla's introduction of 2 new vehicles (Roadster and Semi truck) have not been received with much credibility given their recent lack of actually making vehicles.

quote:

Pay no attention to the "manufacturing hell" engulfing Tesla Inc.'s California plant, where it's laboring to produce its most basic vehicle, the mass-market Model 3 sedan, not by the thousands, but by the hundreds. Or to the $1.4 billion in cash drained in the third quarter, or to the $671 million net loss. Those numbers are real, too, but not part of this show.

quote:

The specs on the semi and sports car would make them segment leaders, says Karl Brauer, executive publisher of Kelley Blue Book, "assuming they can be produced and sold as part of a sustainable business plan. So far, that final element has eluded Tesla Motors, which makes it difficult to see these vehicles as more than 'what if' concept cars."

If that Semi can do about 75% of what they claim then that is going to be one bad bitch if anyone can afford to run them.

Let's be honest.

They introduced pictures of two new vehicles. They aren't even like the hundreds of concept EV cars because they don't exist.

He’s definitely fell short on production for the model three but if you think he’s a fraud you probably don’t know very much about spacex.

Musk is in it for the $

They skipped a bunch of prototype work for the Model 3 to cut costs and now they are having production issues.

Not sure if he is a fraud....but Telsa has to step up big time. Musk over promises and under delivers way too much with them.

Hyperloop, bro

quote:

Elon Musk has started the building revolution for a new train system.

Dubbed Hyperloop, it will allow you to get from London to Edinburgh or LA to San Francisco in under 30 minutes. But what is it and how does it work? Good questions. Musk has likened it to a vacuum tube system in a building used to move documents from place to place. Confused? No worries. Here's everything you need to know about the futuristic train coming from the founder of Tesla and SpaceX.

The model 3 is a disaster even grading on the Musk curve.

They are getting spanked by Chevrolet's 230 mile range EV. Pretty soon Nissan's new Leaf will be on the market as well.

I know an engineer with Tesla and talked to him about a month ago. He’s been promoted several times over the past year because his bosses and coworkers keep getting fired. He’s been working basically 18 hour days for the past 6 months. He says Musk is a nutjob, that he promised to be making 10,000 cars per week without consulting anyone or identifying bottlenecks in the production line. I asked him how many Model 3s they were currently producing, his answer was 12 cars PER WEEK.

We can't have that here in America. There is no place for capitalism.

True. I? was thinking today about the possibility of it recharging itself on the downhill side of a mountain instead of low gear there could be a mechanism to charge batteries.

Be fair.

The primary reason for short changing the typical process was to try to hit the affordability margin to the end user that the 3 is targeting. Sure, Musk is about the money, but it’s no more than most companies and also more driven to fund his next step project.

The Leaf is the industry leader. The new generation should catch up on technology

There's several hundred locally and no dealer.

Does anyone want a semi that can go 500 miles then had to charge for 10 hours? I like the engineering effort, this kind of things only becomes practical with improved super capacitors that charged rapidly.

I understand the criticism for Musk on this board, and a lot of it is valid ....

but some people on both the OT and Politics board reach nuclear levels of melt whenever he is mentioned.

Musk is doing amazing things for America, and for humanity in general, and 100 years from now he will be lauded as one of the most influential human beings to have ever existed.

Sure, maybe he’s a little crazy, and Tesla isn’t doing as well as it should be, but you have to be to crazy to do the things he is doing.

Electric cars & semis, tunneling machines, hyperloop travel, reusable rocket delivery systems, colonies on Mars, artificial intelligence research, and brain interfaces ...

COME ON PEOPLE.

He’s leading us into the future.
