If anything it's a missed opportunity. Someone who squeeked by his last Senate race should be publicly hollering for federal support and for answers on why Texas was so unprepared. Instead of using this to bolster his chances at reelection, he gave his opponent fodder for ridicule.

or are you just a typical leftist slime reprobate hoping to have a sarcasm fest in public again?

The only bone headed part is that, unlike DemProgFilth, Cruz went to a non English speaking, non White, location.
DemProgFilth always say they will run to Australia, Canada, other parts of the UK. DemProgFilth never go to non White areas.

Democrats don’t have to worry about optics because the media covers for them. So why should Republicans be tripping over themselves to worry about optics??? frick optics. There’s nothing wrong with going on a vacation with your family. Good for him.

You think he's going to run unopposed? You think O’Rourke or Castro aren't going to point out that when it was time for Cruz to stand for Texas, he stood in line at the airport to get the hell out?

frick all that. That’s a defeatist attitude. If he jumped through a bunch of hoops for the sake of optics he would still get hammered.
Once again, Republicans are being asked to walk on eggshells all the time while democrats run around doing whatever kind of vile shite they feel like doing with no repercussions.

what exactly could he have done differently while either sitting on a zoom call in freezing cold weather or sitting on a zoom call in warm weather?

It's not going to be a "story" in 4 years. Hell, it won't be one by next week.

No one wants to see their elected officials on vacation while their constituents are suffering.

OP is correct, that as far as strictly political optics go, this was a blunder on Ted, I wish I could spin it any other way, but I am surprised he didn't realize this.
Of course it doesn't offend me, but I am not most people. Winning elections is important and on some level you have to play the game to win elections. I am sure Beto will get a nice ohoto op handing out blankets and the media can run with it.
This is the world we live in unfortunately.

That's right you are playing loos with the truth the way reprobate pussies always do.
If you think Orourke or Castro enther have a chance to win Texas, you are infected with Dem loon cabbage brain just like your leader
Moral: stop lying

half of Louisiana jetted off to the mountains and went skiing during a disaster. looks so bad to do that when their own families are stuck behind without power.
its mardi gras week, I know a bunch of people here in houston that went skiing this week

its not a story now to be honest, cruz gave his mea culpa in his backyard and it ran out of steam
Lion Ted in his backyard
he took his daughter and her friends to cancun and then came back, BFD
the irony is cruz lives in River Oaks, so people are screaming about him abandoning Houston when he lives in a multi-million dollar house in the wealthiest area of town
Posted on 2/19/21 at 10:20 am to supatigah
Yeah IIRC his home had no power or water. so who cares whether he and his family go to a nice hotel somewhere in TX, or Cancun?
It is silly. But it takes away from Cuomo, this is the goal. I also think that his wife Heidi's friends that just had to narc to the media from the get out of town country club neighborhood text messages, are POS.
If I were Heidi I would change friends...

the funniest part is the media acts like cruz is some elitist because he went to cancun on united airlines
if he was a true elitist he wouid have chartered a flight and we would never know a thing about it

Any 'work' Cruz could do to help the situation needs WiFi.

How such an intelligent man could make such a bonehead decision is beyond me. It's bad optics to be seen as an elitist that jetsets off to Cancun when millions of your supporters are without power, food, heat, and having to brave the cold and long lines for necessities. Just a Dumb decision that's cant be truly defended or excused.
The guy has NOTHING to do with the states handling of the crisis. If the Senate's not in session, he can go wherever the hell he wants to!
