Because it can increase the risk of blood clots, can really frick a woman's body, and you need to be sure the woman knows she needs to take it at the same time every day. It can also really frick with your migraines.

It's not a benign drug by any means and sometimes even needs a dose tweak.

I'm not against it being OTC but might should be behind the counter, kinda like Sudafed so you have to at least talk to someone.

Sudafed is behind the counter because of Meth.

Tylenol is more dangerous for you than Birth control pills. Hell, Aspirin is potentially life threatening if you're a child and you take it. It's OTC as well.

The only reason a lot of these non-narcotics are RX required is money.

Not sure if ignorant or dumb. Tylenol is exponentially less dangerous than birth control if taken correctly. Tylenol is one of the safest OTC pain killers around as long as you’re not taking 4000 mg and drinking everyday while you take it.

Fully support this. Easy access to contraception reduces the amount of unwanted pregnancies therefore less need for abortion

I say give complete and total immunity to the drug manufacturers, put some warnings and instruction on the labels and let them have at it. Minimal cost for lawsuit protections and there ya go.

Did you think that through at all?

This is what happens when you let a couple of Mexicans into Congress.

They speak of birth control like it is a single type of drug. There are many different types of birth control. Many different drugs. If a teenager goes in to the pharmacy and sees them all, how does she know which one to use that will work best for her and have the least amount of side effects?

Why not require a pharmacist consultation in the drug store? That seems to take care of most of the concerns in this thread.

Jesus anyone against this should never call themselves conservative again. Let people make their own choices, put the info on the box, give the manufacturer a pass on legal ramifications and allow nature to take it's course.

This is why I think oxycodone should be over the counter.

I never understood why a prescription was needed. You’d probably prevent a ton of teens from getting g pregnant because they are too embarrassed or afraid to ask their parents to help them get a prescription.

Many women's endocrine system gets so fricked up from the pill that they can never have kids after they get off the pill.

I don't know about controlling access or whatever but the pill has serious side effects. I have no suggestion on the best way to distribute.

The pill is way overused and it is increasingly causing serious long term health effects in women.

So you can't buy a beer or cigarettes but you can kill a baby?

We sure live in interesting times.

I agree, but AOC loses me at the make it free part. I also have no doubt this is a classic "if you give a mouse a cookie" situation.

Sudafed is like the most harmless drug on the planet. The only reason why have to jump through hoops now is because of drug addicts.
