It makes me sick looking at this chart and knowing how people got duped (or forced) into paying more taxes.

Politician promises and government ineptitude.

I think what you mean is we have a lot more parasitic people than we ever did before.

Really? Where the frick is mine? I figure between all the taxes I’m paying annually (+40%) I’m getting very little back. Don’t give me the BS about the federal government providing roads, bridges, bloated entitlements etc. The total taxation on middle class Americans is absurd.

And this is the kind of ignorance that got us into this mess.

Can you establish a direct relationship between the tax and the subsequent benefit, so that we know what works and what doesn't?

Or do you just assume the taxes are worth it in general?

It's the latter...

I’m not complaining any history, homesiice. Just providing context as to why tariffs spiked so suddenly in 1864.

Where do you get this "we" shite?

A forced "benefit" that I don't want isn't a "benefit" and I don't get as many as I pay for either

Think of all the benefits if they took 100% of our money! Wow!

Oh? Give me 100% of your remaining money and I'll give you even more benefits. I'll of course need a salary myself so I'll take a little off the top. I'm also not the best with money so I might lose a few hundred bucks. Some of the shite I'll buy you will not want.

But, hey... You'll have even more benefits then you do now!

Who is we, pinko?

I've never drawn unemployment, or federal assistance of any kind. I'm a white man, so have never received a preference, or assistance from the federal government in going to school, starting a business, or winning a bid in the business I'm in.

I do get the benefit of watching our federal government shite on the Constitution, spending literally tons of money on programs that the Constitution explicitly says is left to the states. I get to watch as our government fails to secure our borders, requiring the American taxpayer to spend over 100 BILLION per year in federal assistance for people who are here illegally.

I get to hear no solutions whatsoever for social security, a program that I have been required to pay into all of my life, while they tell me that there will be no money to pay me the benefits that I've paid in, when I retire. But never fear, there are lifetime pensions for the politicians who have done all this wonderful work.

frick you and your benefits.

Forgive me if I think you're a disingenuous stupid frick for acting like our taxes are really the danger.

(sigh).....

You realize the Patriot Act and all the apparatus that makes it work is all due to the tax revenues we collect right? Cut the taxes and shite like that goes away. You know, the stuff gov't shouldn't be doing?
