Wonder what percentage of the income tax revenue comes in the manner of interest free loans?

Fantastic post.

Most people are totally fricking clueless about how much government at ALL levels, but especially the fedgov, is stealing from us.

Possibly, but I'm sure they remained civil.

If only you guys had only felt this way whenever they were rolling out the Patriot Act. You know, the document that Republicans were universally for that took way more rights than any one thing throughout our entire history. Forgive me if I think you're a disingenuous stupid frick for acting like our taxes are really the danger.

If you're asking for real, that bump in tariffs didn't occur until several years after the start of the Civil War.

Republicans had, by then, started to form their pro-tariff policy in conjunction with American industrial leaders and financiers (it would really get going a decade or two later) and with super-majorities in both chambers, could do pretty much whatever they wanted with trade policy after about 1864. It was a policy targeted at the British more than anything.

The Democrats were the pro-free trade party and were completely out of the federal picture from 1860 to about the mid-1870's.

If you really think that, then your grasp of history is even worse than I thought.

If you want to claim that history of the Democratic Party you have to accept it all. Are you prepared to do that?

There are people of the left who could not care less about where their money (taxes) go towards, and want the richest income brackets to pay even more than the disproportionate amount they currently pay. This notion infuriates the hell out of me. Who the frick wants to pay more in taxes, but doesn’t care about if that money is being put to its best use, and thinks people who don’t agree with that are unreasonable and somehow responsible for hurting the poor and less fortunate of society? It just all comes across as a slippery slope to Socialism, and they could not be more pleased because Capitlism is evil and Socialism is good according to the fools they listen to. God help us as a nation.

Chart is a bit misleading, the grey and red are the same basic tax. Just disguised as something different yet Americans are too freaking stupid to understand that.

You are not correct. I know many who were opposed.
