That’s true which is why we need to form a hole in those walls and roads for women and children to get through.
Seems pretty obvious the Taliban doesn't want any full scale conflict with American troops. If they mess with 1 soldier, the Taliban is royally screwed.
I heard reports that UK soldiers are leaving the airport to rescue UK citizens, I don't see why we can't do the same.

the UK has remotely effective leadership, not a President that has dementia and military leaders that are more concerned about whether they are protecting transpeople's rights.

It can be done, but the volume of people needing pulled is way higher here as is the activity level of those on the other side. Plus the sheer volume of Talib adds a layer of challenge to the issue.

From what I've read that was from yesterday. The Taliban was shooting on the "Civilian" side of the airport.
US Forces have secured the military side while Taliban has the civilian side.
In addition, Taliban isn't letting folks get on flights on the civilian side. Also, since the US is controlling radar and all of that fun stuff. The civilian flights also have to rely on instrumentation/visuals, etc. They are legit on their own.

I think in the press conference yesterday Austin or Milley said the Taliban controls the radar and all flights are VFR.

Ya, It's chaos. There have been reports that the Taliban are now putting on ANA uniforms since they are laying around. At this point, imagine being in the 82nd/10th Mtn securing an airport in which you really don't know who is friend or foe and then seeing Taliban beat Americans/Allies and you just have to stand there and watch.
