From now on anytime I argue with a liberal, just like when they call me a racist to end an argument, all I have to say is Afghanistan to end one. I think Peter from Family Guy could have handled this entire situation better, FFS, even Beavis and Butthead.

WASHINGTON, Aug 17 (Reuters) - U.S. Republican Senator John Cornyn has deleted a tweet in which he said wrongly that the United States currently has 30,000 troops stationed in Chinese-claimed Taiwan, a claim that spurred Chinese media to call him a "dotard."

Cornyn included the statistic late on Monday in a tweet about the numbers of U.S. troops based around the world "today," including in Afghanistan before the final withdrawal of U.S. forces from that country, which is now under Taliban control. read more

The U.S. military did have forces in Taiwan before the United States formally established ties with communist China in 1979. Those troops were removed over time leading up to that, including under diplomatic agreements with Beijing.

The Global Times, a vociferously nationalist Chinese state-controlled tabloid, pounced on the Texas senator's error as evidence of the irresponsibility of U.S politicians.

"The tweet saying U.S. is stationing '30,000 troops' in China's Taiwan island could be a jaw-dropping mistake or hype from a 'dotard' senator, but it is shocking enough to see how irresponsible American politicians are on crucial issue of Taiwan Straits," the tabloid said on Twitter.

Cornyn's office did not respond to a request for comment.

The Global Times' editor-in-chief Hu Xijin tweeted that Taiwan authorities must explain Cornyn's remark and added if it is true, China must "immediately launch a war to eliminate and expel U.S. soldiers."

We need a full reset more than term limits. The term limits can be part of the otherwise. This isn’t even managed decline, this is free fall.

Weird how both people on the left and right want across the board term limits for politicians but it never seems to get put forth except once every few years by rookie Congress members. Of course whatever bill they present dies shortly after that.

Communication plane is back

quote:

The E-11As are derived from the Bombardier BD-700 business jet. The BACN payload that they carry is an extremely robust communications gateway that can rapidly send and receive data transmitted through various waveforms to and from a wide array of aerial platforms, as well as forces on the ground. In addition to being able to "translate" between various different communications and data sharing systems, these aircraft have been vital communications relay nodes in Afghanistan, where the country's mountainous terrain limits the reach of line-of-sight links.

Must have some peeps in the mountains.

We have term limits. The voters just aren't smart enough to understand.

We don't have to keep voting for the same person :duuno:

Just a reminder for all that it’s Wednesday and the plan for the US government to get our people out of this is: “please go to a website and fill out a form and make your way to the airport surrounded by Taliban. Don’t worry, they are “assisting” with your safe passage to get there”

They just needed a distraction. The attempt to force the vax for air travel will have them sucking that old pervert's dick again in no time.

There is a large contingent of pretty centrist voters that get largely ignored for the clicks, money, and votes that the more partisan rhetoric generates. This type of incident will resonate with those voters.

It's a sad day when the French are more prepared and have bigger balls than the US. My grandfather would be pissed off if he were still alive!
