So Taliban have blown up slain #Hazara leader Abdul Ali Mazari’s statue in Bamiyan. Last time they executed him, blew up the giant statues of Buddha and all historical and archeological sites.

But they've changed. They're more moderate. They're accepting. They'll do better this time....

Our current President is holed up in a basement; won’t answer any questions from the press.

Our last President is banned from social media and silenced.

Our only news source on Afghanistan is from the Taliban, who hold press conferences and have an uncensored Twitter account.

Pay attention to what goes on in other cities.

This is a retweet from @AfgFactChecks. A fight broke out in Jalalabad and a child was killed. Video at the retweeted link, but tweet has to be translated.

I wish those guys the best and all, but I'd hate for them to make swift progress south and start fighting in Kabul with our people caught in the crossfire.

That would be a horrible situation.

Indeed, but all we can do is watch. I feel for those who actually wanted to fight but were abandoned by the majority of their units.

I'd feel better about their chances if the Fedgov didn't leave a frickton of weapons behind for the Taliban to use.

Another report of the door-to-door searches that "aren't happening":

LINK

In #Kabul, those who worked for govt are burning any documents tying them to former administration.

Afghans who worked for foreign govts/NGOs also destroying any evidence of past employment.

This is happening as Taliban fighters go door-to-door searching homes, spreading fear.
